Horror : Alien
Sci-fi : Alien
Fantasy: Lord of the Rings Trilogy (mainly the 3rd one)
Drama : If I had to pick one, perhaps "The Paper" but that's sort of a comedy too.
Romance: ill. If I had to pick one, maybe An Officer & A Gentlemen
comedy : My Cousin Vinney
Musical: The Sound of Music
War: Schindler's List
Gay Interest: none that I've seen (but I haven't seen many). The ones I saw were terribly acted, horribly done, and stupid. 'Shelter' was the only one I could stomach and it was because of the lead actor. For some reason Brokeback Mountain to me is not a 'gay' movie. lol

I'm not really sure how to classify movies, really. Many of my favorite movies belong in multiple genres. If you veer too far from Horror or sci-fi, you run the danger of boring me.

I think I've seen 4, all by pure boredome thumbing through T.V.

One was a light-hearted comedy with British actors where they have this male bonding group and two of the guys hookup.

Another was a light-hearted comedy with American actors where these two opposite gay dudes hooked up.

Another was a light-hearted comedy in New York about a young song writer who hooks up with a go-go boy.

THe other was called Billy's HOllywood screne Kiss or something like that.

I didn't finish any of those. I hated them.
But I did finish shelter even though it had a ABC afterschool special feel to it smoothed out on the very ghey tip lol

Is there some kind of hollywood campaign to portray gheys as likable, affable, non-threatening, well-to-do, good looking men with a knack for clever comedic lines? lol
Just awful.

Also, sci-fi has been steadily declining since Jurasic Park and the onslaught of CGI technology. For example, Lucas threw out what little knack he had for making movies and ended up trying to dazzle everyone with Jar Jar Binks in the new Star Wars movies. lol

That's why I'm so pleased with District 9. It's hyper-violent with CGI effects, but it's gone back to core formulas in Sci-fi (comments on humanity & society) using elements in the story as allegory.

No, they're not comedies. You should check them out. Longtime Companion is a little dated now but is such a great snapshot of that time and the advent of AIDS. And Parting Glances is just a classic, a really good movie for people who feel "different" even within the gay community.

What's Shelter?

It's a coming of age gay drama. Not a good movie. I just like the main actor in it. He's hawt.

I wish they'd make a movie with this character as the main part. It's brilliant:

I could sit through HOURS of that falloff
