Yesterday, I got promoted to a new position at my job. At around three I had to go across the street to the HR building to get some paperwork, ect and a drug test form. The form listed about 10 places I could take the test at and had to be taken within' 24 hours.


I went at around 3 PM, I get off at 5 PM and don't drive to work. A lady there said that I could take the test tomorrow as I asked her "are you sure these clinics are open on weekends?"


OK, I called all the clinics, none are open, I called my job(s) as of course aren't open on weekends either. So what's gonna happen, as it's almost been 24 hours?

i dont know what to say, however i know here if you need a drug test for work they often times send you to the ER at the hospital - is that an option?

I don't think it's an option, they gave me a form with clinics or whatever they want me to use, about 10 of them. None of them are open today.

k, well, you could at least call the ER of your nearest hospital and ask them, maybe they will surprise you with a good answer. if not, at least you have given it your best shot. good luck

Oh, I'm pretty sure they'll give me a test, but will my job except it as it's not on the form they gave me??

a test is a test... its the results that are important. plus it shows that you did what it took to get it done, which included stepping outside the box and finding a way to get it done instead of just giving up and saying you couldnt find anywhere to do it.

It also shows that you were prepared to take the test and not avoid it, whatever the excuse may be. It is better to go with some results than none. Shows initiative also.

No worries.

Most professional places mean within 24 working hours. If the places are normally closed on the weekends then that's not working hours. Hope you got it done today.

just curios...are drug tests a commen procedure in the US when u get a new job?
