Why do they not like women? they see no need for them. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

I find misogyny mostly in some older men (50s and up), some women (self-hate issue) and some gay dudes (jealousy). Misogyny seems to have evolved from thinking women were less smart and somehow frail to thinking women are evil or something to be mocked and made fun of.
Take the political arena for example. Palin and Clinton got pretty dogged and not in the way their male counterparts did. There is still an under-representation of women in politics overall. Look at health care, many women are still not given the same level of medical treatment and attention that men are. Why are there so many health ads and meds geared toward men but not women? Women suffer many of the same ailments like heart disease, cancer, lung diseases and sexual dysfunctions. Then of course there the violence against women issue. Women are targeted for no other reason than that they are women. That hasn't decreased at all. I don't think that we have yet reached a global frame of mind that sees the value in women. With that said, if you are female and you haven't yet experienced misogyny, just wait...it's coming.

Talking about vaginas being ugly and having yeast infections. I told him "you came out of a vagina and every dude you ever fantasized about came out of a vagina so vaginas must be doing right by your fucking ass." I cook maybe once or twice a week and I haven't washed my clothes or ironed in maybe 5 years. My wife does those things, as is expected of her. It felt weird at first but I've gotten used to it. I think if we moved out into a nicer place with a nicer kitchen I'd probably do a lot more cooking

See if she doesn't mind doing it and you are not ordering her to do it and there are no negative repercussions if she ups and decides to quit then I see no problem at all.

She sees it as something she needs to be good at in order to be a good wife. If she didn't do those things for me her mother would get on her back.

It'd be good for us to have that separation and for Mon to be away from some of the old-fashioned expectations and pressures. She's cool with it, but I am a little uncomfortable with it sometimes. It makes me dependent and complacent. We have responsibilities here though. . . [Edited 8/16/09 20:54pm]

Sad to say, but the most horrible misogynistic crap I've ever heard has come from the mouths of gay men. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I see some stuff with my girlfriend. Mostly stuff like, she pays for something and the clerk thanks me, or we talk to a mechanic about her car, and they talk to me.
Or sometimes it comes from women, who are not nice to her but are nice to me. Sort of how I only see men as a competition. My Legacy

I hate to have to do it, but if I'm at, say, the hardware store with a male friend I'll abandon him before I talk to an employee about whatever it was I needed because I know that way I'll actually be spoken to. Of course, not having a guy with me also leaves me subject to condescending tones and careful over-explanations. Guss I can't win. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

On another note, for about a week after my foot surgery a few years ago I was wheelchair bound. That was a trip.
