I got DRAGGED to watch it. I had 2 expectations of the film: 1. It was gonna be a Will Ferrel-ish satire/parody type film 2. It would end up being like Starship Troopers with humans v.s. aliens... So much for expectations... Instead, I watch some BULLSHIT ass movie about ALIENS WHO LAND IN AFRICA, of ALL places on Earth, rounded up into shacks, and then being forcefully evicted out of homes they were put in, tortured, beat up, abused, and killed. Then there are africans fighting the aliens and shit. Who ever came up with the idea for that piece of trash must be EATING crack. It was like fucking King Kong 2009. I mean, really? :disgust: You missed so much in the movie. But the scenes you mention could be offensive to the point of distraction. Did you notice how natural it seemed to man to exploit the 'other?' And is this a message for South Africa? A warning about how weaker minorities are perceived and treated? Notice how easy it was for even Black South Africans to sanction the same abuses that were just a cavalierly imposed on them. Well, If I would've known it was going to be a political satire I would have avoided it. I thought It was going to be funny or entertaining. It was SO dull and boring...that's what I get for thinking. That'll teach me. | |
