San Francisco is overrated, and I'm serious about this. hammer I lived there for 15 years and thank you, lord pray I am OUT. I can't stand the weather. There is forever wind, a cold sly wind that whips around your neck all year long without fail. Thank you lord, for releasing me from that wind. disbelief

And there is too much cement. Tourists talk about the beauty of the city, but after living there and spending all my time there, for years, I beg to differ. Cement, cement, cement. Driving in the city is insane.

Now to be fair, there is a lovely beach at the end of the city. A couple months ago, I spent the morning at my job in the financial district downtown, then hopped on a streetcar that took me directly to the beach on a very hot day. So it was like, tall skyscrapers one minute, then beautiful Ocean beach then next minute. eek

Also the downtown area borders spectacular bay scenery with large fantastic boats. And that's nothing to sniff at for someone like me who hails from the Midwest!

It took me a long time, but I finally moved to Berkeley. cloud9 I spend most of my time around the downtown area, near UC Berkeley campus, and Telegraph Avenue. There is enough culture right here, I rarely need to go to the city. I see top notch plays, movies, ballets, concerts within walking distance of my house. The best records stores and ethnic restaurants are at my fingertips. Many hiking trails are nearby, and I can walk to the marina and hang out at the gorgeous bay and see this:

So I'm settled here and there's no wind! biggrin

But one thing I would say, is if you ever foresee owning a house in your future DO NOT...I repeat...DO NOT move to the Bay Area.

San Francisco is a fun place to visit, but I could never live there.Driving is insane, there are too many tourists and it's always crowded.A fun place to go clubbin',though lol I prefer the peace and calm of San Jose.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Telegraph Ave. When I first went there, I said out loud "I've found my home" lol

I want to move to either Berkeley, back to Oakland, or maybe Hayward or SF

Stop cappin on the wind mad About to get a nice whiff of it in less than two hours when I head to work. I don't like fog with a heavy dose of mist. It kills black women's hairstyles in less than 10 minutes. Scrunchies are my friend in that weather. Too much cement? eek Parking options is what really makes me crazy. I have to search high and low in almost every 'hood to find an adequate parking spot.

I was living in Oakland at the time and pissed off that I'd leave and it would be cold over there at 6am then get to Concord at 7am and it would be hotter that the devil's breath mad
