Another of Lammastide's stupid white swim trunks threads

OK... so, I managed to find a pair of nearly all-white trunks. They're cool, but not exactly what I wanted: They've got red contrast stitching (Benetton rolleyes) and my wife says I would still look respectable -- but yummier -- in one size down. cool

But they're sold out.

In the meantime, John Galliano has these as part of his latest "Gazette" collection:

They totally smash my "all-white" rule, and for contour sake, I'd prefer only one or no back pockets. hmmm But I'd rock these.

I can't get past one thing, though: What's up with that big @#$! picture of Galliano... naked... in a top hat? hmm These bad boys aren't cheap... and it'd be nice to wear them somewhere other than a Tom of Finland beach party. confused

I know some artsy fartsy designer types. I might look into having something along this line custom made. Anyone know if it's insanely tough and expensive to have an oddball fabric like this tracked down and ordered?

I literally laughed out loud when I saw them. Where in the U.S. could I get away with these outside of Provincetown and Fire Island? lol

I'd like them if they were a bit longer. There's nothing wrong with my legs but I just can't bring myself to wear mid-thigh length shorts.

If I were in my 20's and buff maybe. shrug

Here's the board short version:

I'm shorter and skinnyish. (Although I've got awesome legs! cool). If I wear long shorts, I think I look like a toddler playing dress up in his dad's clothes. lol

I'm guessing that the fabric was designed specifically for Galliano, and they don't sell it to unauthorized designers. Otherwise you'd have a bunch of Project Runway wannabes designing shit with Galliano's name plastered all over it and then how could you tell the real from the fake? I think it would be very difficult to find it and make your own "Galliano". You could maybe try to find a newsprint fabric, but I think that is going to look like a cheap knock-off (which it would be).
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

OK, there is something very suggestive of a leg kicking from the general crotchal area lol

And, see, that's the complication: If I got these made, I wouldn't want people to see them and think "Galliano." I'm rather actively not a fan of his fashion house. ill I just really dig the newsprint idea... which has been done by others, just not this season. But, yeah, the whole possible assumption I'd be attempting to do a "near-Galliano" does offend the snob in me. confused

As for the fabric, yes, it'd be a challenge, but not impossible to find. I've seen newsprint fabric out there. Finding a newsprint fabric suitable for swimwear, however, would be tougher, I suppose.

Problems. Problems. disbelief

lol I kinda hate these too. I think the cut is too slim to support the length. And the front gusset and cargo pocket look like WTH!?! hmm

The Versace jacket was on sale or else I couldn't have bought it. Trust me, I'm not rich, I just don't eat for a month so that I could buy such luxuries. lol
