Congratulations!

They need to come up with a less gross way to have babies. All that mucus talk and faint.

God yes. After witnessing the Big Event, I've made up my mind. The day I get home to Vancouver I'm making an appointment to get an IUD.

Their kid was planned and all, but I don't want any surprises until I'm good and ready for a baby. lol

I don't blame you.lol
Beautiful pics btw. cool

Hey, the doctor said it was real labour, but clearly strangers on the internet know it wasn't.

Huh?

Who the hell said your best friend wasn't in real labor? I had Braxton-Hicks contractions, which aren't real labor, and I specified them as such.

You can be such a pain in the ass, meow.

You have to read her reply at #40 lol

The missus won't let you wait that long!

As soon as you get to 2cm, if there is no change - rupture those membranes, out in side 4 hours!

You will be fine hug

So does it actually get easier with each successive kid, or is that just a fib to convince women to give birth more than once?

I have no idea if there's a racial component to it. But if it means anything, that child is 1/4 Punjabi courtesy of Mom. Not that you'd know it by looking the kid.

Less time, less pain.

Something tells me that's an untruth.

That's pretty much what I figured.

Why do you suppose the idea persists that childbirth gets easier with each successive kid, then? Even that crazy Duggar lady with the 18 kids probably doesn't see the process as a picnic.

it totally depends how much time lapses between children. If you have a gap of say 5 years, your body has recovered and stretchy ligaments and stuff from previous pregnancy should be back to normal, so it would be (in theory) like a first birth again.
I had a gap of 17 months and then a gap of 2.75 years, I did find each birth shorter in labour with each, despite each kid bigger than the last LOL
22 hours (obstructed labour with emergency c-section) 4.0 kg
7 hours (artificially induced labour, episiotomy and vacuum extraction) 4.15 kg
2 hours (no time for any assistance, none required) 4.35kg

I believe every word you wrote obviously. But I guess these things do vary with each woman. There was a whopping 6-year gap between my brother and me. [My parents kept trying, but I didn't want 'to be made' and come on earth apparently:)].

Well, I don't remember how long my brother's birth took, my mum said something like 6-7 hours, but she said that for me, the 2nd child and after 6 years, I just 'slipped through like a letter in the mailbox', to quote her. A certainly encouraging imagery for any 2nd-time would-be mothers:)

falloff falloff
My doc told me what I wrote here. I think my first labour would have been quicker had my kid not been facing the wrong way, and my second labour would have been quicker had I been allowed to wait until I went into labour naturally. I could have had 3 kids all much the same duration, but I will never know!

Yeah, yeah, Braxton-Hicks. We all know them yawn These aren't REAL contractions. I had them from 4 months of pregnancy til the end shrug Those don't mean you're in labor. I am also in the medical field smile

No doctor would allow a woman who is having REAL contractions to walk around for a week. Contractions put stress on the baby.

Of course, you can have contractions and not dialate. Many women have this issue. Still, it depends on the severity of the contraction before it is considered "Labor", which is why many women have false alarms.

Smooches;)

Braxton-Hicks aren't real contractions and REAL contractions do in fact put stress on the baby. So yeah, no REAL DOCTOR would allow a woman to leave while in active labor. You can have contractions and not be in active labor...hence, BRAXTON-HICKS...jeez. rolleyes

Sorry, but no. 'Twas real labour, not Braxton-Hicks, and yes she was sent home to wait it out. The docs said nothing was progressing, but neither she nor the baby were under any undue stress and since it makes no sense to have a healthy person taking up space in the hospital, the bulk of the labour was at home. For a week.

But, MsMisha has spoken. It wasn't real. Got it. thumbs up!
