question about sunburns So I somehow managed to get a really wickedly bad sunburn. It's my first one in 6 years actually, since I'm usually really careful about sunscreen and whatnot.
Thing is, the burn is so bad it actually hurts under the skin, as if the muscles are sore. Have any of you ever had this? Is this normal? It's been a few days now and the skin's not peeling but it hurts underneath the burn. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

i've never heard of under the skin, but i know from personal experience (unfortunatly) that it can just stay red for a few days without anything happening.
a plain aloe vera gel should soothe it a little, maybe phone the doctor if you are getting very worried.

Reminds me of one time when I was back in school and for some stupid reason I pulled up the sleeves of my shirt to reveal my "guns"....they weren't big at all and stupid me didn't bother putting sun screen on them at all. So the next day they were red as hell!.....two days later they started to peel and stupid me removed the skin! BAD IDEA! The newly formed skin started to scab over and with my upper arms being white as clouds they burned to a crisp so once they started to scab I could hardly move my arms higher than my neck without them causing me immense pain.
I have since learned my lesson. But I will say DO NOT put anything like vinegar on the area....I don't know how I convinced my mum to do so but fuck that burnt like crazy! Aloe vera oil/gel works wonders....or if you get really stoned (I smoked a lot of weed at the time. No more tho) scratching works wonders. The pain is euphoric! Use aloe, lots of it, as many times a day as you can. It's the best thing for burns.

Is it weird that I like that feeling? Maybe because I know I'll be a kick ass brown a day later.
Anyway, pretty much only time heels a sunburn.

I've had a few bad sunburns - just keep it moisturized with aloe vera gel and maybe some aspirin and hydro cortinzone cream will ease any inflamation.

Anyway, pretty much only time heels a sunburn. Most of the burn is a really awesome brown now. I actually look Metis for a change. But there is one patch that's as red as it was on Sunday when I got it. It's not peeling, but it hurts like a son of a bitch. Since I never get burns I don't know if this is something I should be concerned about or not. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
