how long do you normally give someone to pay for the auction that they won? Someone won one of my auctions on the 27th of last month,I sent them an invoice,and I still have received no payment or any kind of response. The person that won my auction has won only one other auction,but received positive feedback. I just don't know how long would be considered a fair amount of time to wait before offering it to the next highest bidder?

have you tried contacting them?

I usually ask to have itmes paid for within 3 days of the auction ending and include this in the listing. Most people are good about paying on time. Some I have had to email and remind to pay, only one I have had to actually call by phone.

Sounds fair to me, maybe you should give them a call if there is a phone number available.

Assuming they don't pay, you'll need to claim your fees back under "non-paying bidder". IIRC ebay give the buyer set periods to pay up before taking action. If I was you I'd look into that process and use those time limits as your own for paying up / taking action / re-listing.

I bought and sold on Ebay. A buyer won a designer bag I've listed there for $750, and didn't pay. Another buyer won for $127.50 and didn't pay. You can report them, but also email ebay and tell them to not take their bids in the future, or if a buyer has 0 feedbacks, don't allow them to bid. Unfortunately, you would have to relist the item. You can put restrictions on bids. Check with ebay. As a buyer, I had a few bad experiences purchasing fake bags, and fought to get my money back, so watch for those. It sucks sometimes.

I've experienced this a couple of times where people wouldn't pay. No matter how you ask sometimes, some people don't intend to pay.

I do know that Ebay gives a 7 day (maybe 10) grace period for a buyer to pay for an item. When you go to your "My Ebay" section and click on your "Sold" items, it walks you through filing a complaint with Ebay. I've never had any success in recovering money from a non-responsive person, though.

Your best bet will be to wait until your Ebay case closes and they will credit your listing fee back. That way, you can relist it without having to pay the listing fee twice.

Did you have a timeframe in your description on when you expected the payment to be made?

No I did'nt. I don't usually have to,people usually pay right after the auction has ended. I usually don't have a problem with people paying. I decied to just offer it to the second highest bidder,and hopefully they will take it,so I won't have to relist. :fingers-crossed:

That is what I started doing. I started saying "payment is expected within 24 hours after the auction ends." That way, if a person wants to take longer to pay, they will usually contact you about an extension.
