Candida..

I have a friend who feels he has an overgrowth of Candida, due to be treated with antiobiotics over the past few years.
He's on a no carb diet and uses unprocessed coconute oil..

ever heard of this?

Antibiotics can do that to you but he definitely needs to go to the doctor. If it's an overgrowth of candida in his mouth that sounds like thrush and it's usually symptomatic of something else going on. geek

I love this cook book and it references to be used highly for Candida, since yeast exists in most simple carbohydrates, all sweets and refined foods. It mentions to avoid all fermented foods, no wine, beer... there is a long lists of NO's. But the recipe book is excellent and is near to identical to a Candida diet. Even though it is formulated for a D-tox program... the recipes are excellent for an everyday healthy diet, or perhaps a kick start to lose a bit of weight while still eating a very healthy diet.

Wild Rose Herbal Formula (Herbal D-Tox Cookbook for Cleansing) by Dr. Terry Willard, PH.D.

I found it in Canada... and had to re-order another copy. Take a look.

Why would someone name a woman after this disease?

I didn't mean to be rude by posting the video, it really just was the first thing that popped into my head. I hope your friend is okay.

I didn't know that Candida was still going around.

nod i had to treat a flock of birds for candida, once. used ketoconazal. cleared that mess right up. remember, while treating the condition, clean the environment too. yeast spores can get into things

There were times I thought maybe I had this. It seems to be more common in women, but I don't think it only occurs in women.

But I have looked into it as one of my many mystery/non-existent illnesses.

Apparently it's very common with anti-biotics as it fucks up the ph levels in your body, particularly the mucus membrane'y bits. A lot of women get thrush after having a baby and also towards the end of her period.

Canesten. Try that. It's good stuff. They also do one with a pill, so it works from the inside and they can use the cream on the... uhm... other parts.

Live yogurt is supposed to work well too.

Don't ask me how I know all this stuff. I tend to retain medical information for some reason. My friends don't bother googling.. they just call me! lol
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe..

I think if you have it in your guts or something, your symptoms are stuff like tiredness and is difficult to diagnose, that's when you have to do the diet thing

"Manifestations (from wikipedia)

Most candidial infections are treatable and result in minimal complications such as redness, itching and discomfort, though complication may be severe or fatal if left untreated in certain populations. In immunocompetent persons, candidiasis is usually a very localized infection of the skin or mucosal membranes, including the oral cavity (thrush), the pharynx or esophagus, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary bladder, or the genitalia (vagina, penis).[1]
Candidiasis is a very common cause of vaginal irritation, or vaginitis, and can also occur on the male genitals. In immunocompromised patients, Candida infections can affect the esophagus with the potential of becoming systemic, causing a much more serious condition, a fungemia called candidemia.[3][4]
Children, mostly between the ages of three and nine years of age, can be affected by chronic mouth yeast infections, normally seen around the mouth as white patches. However, this is not a common condition.[citation needed]"
