Tea that you don't have to add sugar to. When you drink it, it is already sweet...prepared already. Usually served cold, in my experience.

lol

Funny how hard it is to put this one into words!

Do you prefer it to sweetening it yourself? Will you accept regular tea and sweeten it yourself in the absence of sweet tea?

OK, I know too much about this subject.

Usually the tea is made hot, the sugar is added and then chilled. As opposed to adding the sugar to cold tea.

So, you have the effect of the sugar distributing itself better in a hot environment. Thereby promoting a total cohesiveness of flavor.

(Can you guess that I lived in the south for a while or what)

Water that has recently boiled, has less CO2 in it. This changes the way the tea flavors are being dissolved.

It may as well have an effect on how sugar particles bind to other substances.

I think sweet tea tastes better, and I think it's because of the way it's made. First, you make a sugar syrup by heating sugar and water, then add it to hot tea, then pour it over ice and stir. Really, you are ingesting less sugar this way, well I am anyway. If I have to sweeten it myself, I add 5-7 packets to an 8 oz glass!!

Yup - having lived in Japan and since I am married to a Japanese woman, I have had to acquire a taste for Japanese green tea smile

I do like it, lovely leafy flavour. However Japanese people have tried on numerous occasions to convince me of it's medicinal use (everything from "it's good for your blood pressure" to "it's good for your digestive system") but I've yet to be convinced. It's great though, and a nice change from what passes for tea here in the UK (milky sugary hot tea).

Note though that green tea has loads of caffeine in it - more than your regular red tea so don't drink it before going to bed...

Also, I imagine that although sweet tea might initially seem interesting, and you might believe it has something of value to offer, I'd imagine after a very short time you'd get rather sick of it and need to switch to a different beverage.

Iced black coffee is great.

And green tea too.

I don't usually drink hot tea though, only iced tea normally.

Not Lipton Ice though, yuck!

hmmm...

As for the sugar distribution problem, I used to frequent a coffee shop that offered a sort of sugar/water solution to sweeten iced coffee, since the granules wouldn't mix in nearly as well. Perhaps this would solve the tea problem?

Incidentally, I don't really drink iced tea, unless it's a nice Chai (which is more often than not pre-sweetened, or Sweet Tea) but if it's hot tea, I prefer to add honey.
