A hospital volunteer just left a couple of days ago to Florida, here from Arizona.

Her marrige turned very bad, so she wanted to get as far from Arizona as she could, yet still remain in the USA. wink

She found a 1 bedroom cottage for a fairly good price that is privately owned by an older couple.

Well who's to say it will be a good deal, but the couple was willing to help her out and furnish it with what they could to help her out.

So far it sounds as if it is working out for her.

The last house we lived in we found through Craigs.
We practically ran screaming from there just shy of a year. Couldn't take it any longer.

I'm sure there's non-crook/slumlords on there though.

i have a funny craigslist story - 100% true story .

Someone on THIS SITE - said they were addicted to looking at the "personals" and specifically the "missed connections" part of craigslist - so i checked it out ... before long i was looking at the Personals , free stuff, stuff for sale etc ... it is addicting - like ebay !!!

anyways - at one point someone at my office - wanted to hire an "assistant" do do some secretarial work etc - he always complained about it like "we need someone to do this or that" etc - - - so i figured - the ads are free - so i will advertise under "help wanted" etc ....

The first person who replied - was a 22 yr old gal (and of course i said to myself "danger danger" lol ) - probably a bad idea bringing a gal into the office environment - long story - turns out she had a instant messenger acct - this 22 yr old was really aggressive - like she wanted the job RIGHT NOW ...etc ... so i chatted with her a few times ... at about that time of course - the economy started going south and there was NO WAY we could hire someone else here at my firm .... but i was also curious as to what she looked like - one time on instant messenger she was on - and she showed me some pics ... she was smoking UNBELIVABLE hot ...and had very RISQUE shots of herself .... all i could think of afterwards was that craigslist is full of FREAKS ! razz wink

I've bought & sold stuff on craigslist, and I've hired people on craigslist.

Mostly it is no problem, but there are some weirdos & criminals there, just like the regular world. You have to be cautious any time you put yourself out there, in cyberspace or on the street.

I found my previous (rent stabilized) apartment on Craig's List. I have sold some furniture on there, and my friends bought a car from Craig's list.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I knew some gay people in Vegas who would use it just to hook up with guys that flew in for the weekend.

Man sometimes I wish I was gay because they seem to get all the ass they want.

This is a good question, since I have also been looking for a job through Craigslist. The one very positive thing I can say about Craigslist so far is that the company that is looking to hire someone actually acknowledges you when you apply for the position. Granted, it probably is an automated response, but at least you get an answer. When I apply for jobs on those other job websites, I hardly EVER get a response. Go figure. lol

But that has nothing to do with craigslist, just the employer you applied to. I have applied to many jobs on craigslist with no response at all. But then, I've gotten my best jobs off there too.

I got my fabulous job, and my cottage rental off CL. I get ALL my concert tickets off there and never once got ripped off (even though I have paid before they mailed the tix). I have bought nice objects.

BUT cop I bought a car whose engine exploded two months later. No recourse. I'll probably never do that again.

I know that it's the employer who I applied to who is sending me the responses, and that it has nothing to do with Craigslist. Good to hear that you found some good positions on there.
