florescent said: So I had the surgery done yesterday. I was going to have Lasic surgery - which has a really quick recovery time, but the surgeon wan't happy to go ahead with it, so I ended up with epi-lasic. It basically meants i'll take longer to heal.
I can see really well - it's amazing!!! My sight is a bit cluody though at the moment. I have a big bag of drops and pills to get me through the next few days. I should feel much better in another day or two and completely back to normal within a week. The sleeping pills they gave me are fab - I can see how people get addicted to them No problem with my eyes apart from glasses whe nim on a pc you sharing those pills?

Get it done!!! Seriously, I'm such a wuss The actual surgery was completely painless. It started to hurt a bit a couple of hours after the surgery, but they give you anaesthetic drops if it gets too much (i didn't need them). My eyes felt a little gritty yesterday and were swollen, but there was no pain - at all! ....and thanks to the sleeping pills, i slept for almost 36 hours solid anyway.

My wife had it done about 6 years ago. It worked pretty well, but she occasionally gets halos in her vision. It has also affected her ability to drive at night.
I on the other hand would never do it. I wear glasses, but my eyes aren't so bad. I can walk around and stuff without glasses. I also can't imagine having my eyes messed with in such a fashion. I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

I can SEE things!' I really had to stop myself from kissing him full on the lips!! I had my bandage lenses taken out yesterday so now my eyes are completely naked. WOO-HOO!

I'm glad to hear everything went well with your procedure and I hope your vision improves.
So, I went for my eye appointment yesterday and asked my doctor of 10 years, AGAIN, if I'm a candidate for Lasik and AGAIN he said no because of where my astigmatism is located on my lens the laser can't fix it. He did say that I may be a candidate for something called PRK, which I know nothing about but I will be looking into. Needless to say, my astigmatism got worse and so I need new, custom-made contacts and glasses. The price for all of this: Exam, follow up visits, and contacts $688 Frames (luckily I bought these last year) $308 Lenses for frames $310 This was me at the receptionist's desk Being blind sucks!!! (but I did tell the doctor that it figures that I would need haute couture contacts instead of off the rack )

Never heard about PRK, well I hope for all the best whatever the solution will be. Oh my...! That's a lot. I just googled PRK and it sounds to me to be the same/very simular to what I had done. I was supposed to have Lasic, but on the day the surgeon said my corneas were too thin for this, so the only other option was Epi-Lasek. From what I understand, it's very simular to Lasic, but because they actually scrape the flap of the cornea rather than just lift it up, it generally takes a little longer to recover. I would recommend that you look into PRK and find out if you are suitable. The cost of all those lenses and glasses every time you need to change them adds up to so much.
