Enid's the bomb. She has one of my favorite quotes in the series: "East Side, West Side--who the hell knows down here?"

And she has the best line in the movie: "Forty is the last age a woman can be photographed in a wedding dress without the unintended Diane Arbus subtext."

highfive

She consistently had great lines like the ep where she asked Carrie to set her up with a guy and Carrie showed up with the Russian and Enid asked her "Carrie, why are you wading in my pool?" That was deep.

I could quote her all day. "You're a writer. You should be writing this down." I loved when she was totally bitchy.

"See? You have to be a couple just to order lunch in this town!"

"He's a hobbit!"

The "wading in my pool" line was definitely deep, especially coming after the hobbit line. ("Splat!" is a great episode for a lot of reasons, one of the best of season six.)

Charlotte was my girl. She was just so cute and conservative. And she had fine ass Trey McDougal. They would have been a perfect couple if not for them damn repro problems.

Lord, why you guys bring up this old shit falloff

Okay Carrie is not so much dumb as typical. Women do stupid things when they are in love. Big was the catch, she loved everything about him. She had a whole slew of lovers and none of them, not even Aidan or Aleksander measured up. It was always gonna be BIG!!

My two fav episodes of Carrie and Big drama was one where Natasha and Big (John) show up to Aidan's wood show or whatever. That was the end of Big's marriage and the end of a good thing with Aidan. The other episode is in the last season where Carrie finally tells Big off before she leaves for Paris. Years of pent up frustration topped off with an "I don't live here anymore!". Classic. biggrin

Like I said, at the time the Big relationship didn't seem so bad or dysfunctional over six years. But watching all of these eps back to back I think is amplifying the madness. And the reason I'm watching all of 'em is because some of the discs are defective and I need to tell Amazon which discs/eps are messing up.

But, regardless, I'm still thinking she's a typically, dumb broad. biggrin

she's dumb because being a writer and NY cosmo girl about town she should have known Big's game from the jump. She let her guard down around him and it was easy for him to play her. And if you watch the episodes where they first met. Samantha wanted Big but he didn't want her. Now that would have been a match up for sure!

Exactly, how you been living and dating in Manhattan for 20 years but don't recognize the game a playa like Big is puttin' down??? And like I said, he never voluntarily did anything to make her feel like he wanted to really commit to her. She whined and pouted her way into him then bitched and complained when he didn't perform like a trained seal. Heffa please! talk to the hand

I thought Samantha and Richard were perfect together and her reason for breaking up with him never seemed plausible to me. rolleyes

Indeed. Samantha was the woman. Game peeped game and she just got tired of playing I suppose. They could have had an open relationship like they did in the beginning. Maybe James Remar wanted out, I dunno, his character was perfect for Kim's Samantha.

Back to Carries' dumb ass. She was too quick to fall in love too - with all those dudes. disbelief I always thought her and Miranda were a little unrealistic character wise. Miranda was a little too hard and a bit anti-male to ever be married with a kid and Carrie doesn't know a pimp/playa when she sees one. I think the male writers had a tad skewed image of female neurosis. falloff

the movie however was a disappointment to me. I'm sorry but after 10 years you better not even dream of getting cold feet before the wedding. And how old is Charlotte? She got preggers a little late in the game I think. The best part of the film for me was the relationship between Miranda and Steve. She finally settled down into a believable character with believable problems.

Samantha was just paranoid cuz he wasn't cheating on her . . . yet. Can't believe she gave back that yellow diamond ring. disbelief

I don't agree about Miranda, I don't think she hated men at all, she just a cynical New Yorker.

I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I HATED the movie. The fashion was the best character. Even sweet Charlotte was annoying as hell, she was CONSTANTLY screaming in delight. rolleyes I think she was 40 or 41 when she got pregnant.

I've just decided that after Miranda, Enid, Carrie's Vogue editor, is my favorite character. I love how uncomfortable she made Carrie and she had some good lines too. lol

Enid: "The key to having it all: Stop expecting it to look like what you thought it was going to look like. That's true of the fall lines, and that's true in relationships." thumbs up!

Enid's the bomb. She has one of my favorite quotes in the series: "East Side, West Side--who the hell knows down here?"

And she has the best line in the movie: "Forty is the last age a woman can be photographed in a wedding dress without the unintended Diane Arbus subtext."

Carrie: "I thought the article was about fashion at any age?"
Enid: "Fashion yes, bride no" falloff

One of my favorite male characters on the show. He made a one time but very impressionable appearance.

Something RAIMI. Raimi was his last name, his first name escapes me. He was coined the male Samantha and he had a swing in his apartment.

His memorable quotes:

"You should try me, I really am that good."

"I can't fuck you or eat you the way I want unless you've had an Aids test."

falloff

Brilliant

I remember that episode. It had one of the worst puns ever in a show that was infamous for its horrible puns: "Samantha had to decide how much she wanted to do Raimi." Barf.

Carrie Bradshaw is the dumbest single broad to ever be on TV. I love the show, but the more I watch it, the madder I'm getting. Yet I can't stop myself. pissed

Okay. I'm glad you are saying this because I really, really dislike this show; but I watch the reruns every night; my guy friend doesn't understand why I watch it if I dislike it. I tried to explain that I watch it so I can critique the stupidity of it, but he doesn't really get it.

My main problem with the show is that it's so cliche and perpetuates stereotypes: the blond is a slut, the less attractive red-head is a "man-hating" feminist, the brunette is the hopeless romantic and a bit rigid. Even the opening credits play into this. Did you notice how Kim Catrall's name shows up between all the numerous yellow taxis (e.g. cabs = men she has sex with), Kristen Davis is during the Brooklyn Bridge - structured with little squares, just like how Charlotte has to have everything just perfect. And Miranda (I forget the actress' name) is over the Chrysler Building, all sharp, and prickly, and phallic. And then Sarah Jessica Parker, the dumbass, gets splashed by the bus because she's not paying attention.

(Yes, I over analyze everything. But that should prove that I watch the show for critiquing not fun! smile )

And the puns are awful.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

You know what, I love the show and for me the difference with the other 3 characters is that by the end of the show everyone of them did a 180 degree turn from the stereotypical character they started out as. Carrie stayed the exact same and didn't learn a gatdamn thing. pissed

I never liked the Russian but felt he got ridiculously mistreated by the writing in the series. They had so given up on writing well by season six. Remember when he told Carrie (a writer, who should understand the personal pressures of creating art) that he had to work and couldn't come meet her friends and as an apology sent their table the really expensive wine (or maybe it was chapagne)? And then the bitch still brought all her friends back to his place, drunk, and was shocked when he was pissed off?

The slap was a completely bullshit writer's construct in the last episode too. It wasn't in keeping with his character and served absolutely no purpose considering she was already making up her mind to leave him.

I guess I don't hate the Russian but I do hate what he represents in Carrie's life: That by this far into the show, she hadn't learned anything, was still able to let a man oveshadow her, and completely gave up her own identity in the name of "love" or something. It was a shame considering the heights the show was able to reach in so many other areas.

I agree completely. I actually liked him MUCH more than Big. He made an effort from the start to include her into HIS life something Big never did. Instead of riding the wave to wherever it took her this heffa obsesses over how he compared to Big and what her friends think about him. At 40 why the fuck do you still care??? Within the context of her history with Big and bending over backwards to appease him I hear what you mean about her being overshadowed and giving up her identity. BUT in the case of the Russian, he was offering her a chance to see the world, with a guy she loved who was richer than a muthafucka. I woulda jumped at that shit too, but with eyes wide open and with the expectation that shit could end at any time. But for some reason this bitch constantly threw away happiness with both damn hands. I agree also that the slap was totally contrived.

I thought the same thing about her taking the crew to his house unannounced. He told you he was working, apologized and you're still barging into his space. She's like a 12 year old with a credit card. confused

..in real life thats called getting screwed, tricked, or just plain manipuated....circustances beyond her control.

what if behind the scenes, big had a wife and kids somewhere and was just using her for sport.....shrug ..i'm just saying.
