the people that talk about wanting to commit suicide are cowards looking for attention. the people that actually go through with it don't broadcast it cause they don't want anyone to try to talk them out of it.

Seriously bad health.Many people with cancer for example have chosen that option.

But I mean, if life gets totally duck'ed up - just sell everything you got left, take a loan and escape to a tropical island. What would you have left to lose that way either? wink

i'm currently diagnosed as passively suicidal by my psychologist.

she says that suicides occur as people are coming out of depression for the most part. while depressed they don't really have the drive to do anything, but as they are coming out they take a look at their and decide that things are so must up because of what they did that they do suicide. that's why most people appear happy or normal before they do it, they've come to peace with their decision.

That makes sense to me.

I wish you lots of strength during your recovery.

thank you.

Actually, this is a myth. Some people may not talk about it. But there is plenty of evidence of people who have been talking about it for years to their friends and family, finally accomplishing it. Many suicides do not come from impulse. A person may have been contemplating it for years, then finally, the circumstances line up for them to create an opportunity to do it. And they succeed.

Often survivors regret not having said something at the right time etc. But much evidence shows that people premeditate the act, and if they don't succeed once, twice, three times...they will succeed in the fourth attempt. For instance.

Death

Nor dread nor hope attend
A dying animal;
A man awaits his end
Dreading and hoping all;
Many times he died,
Many times rose again.
A great man in his pride
Confronting murderous men
Casts derision upon
Supersession of breath;
He knows death to be done -
Man has created death.

Can u think of any reasons that would compel u 2 commit suicide?

if you were yukio mishima and wanted to make both a personal and artistic statement:

http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/mishima.htm
Mishima was deeply attracted to the patriotism of imperial Japan, and samurai spirit of Japan's past. However, at the same time he dressed in Western clothes and lived in a Western-style house. In 1968 he founded the Shield Society, a private army of some100 youths dedicated to a revival of Bushido, the samurai knightly code of honour. In 1970 he seized control in military headquarters in Tokyo, trying to rouse the nation to pre-war nationalist heroic ideals. On November 25, after failure, Mishima committed seppuku (ritual disembowelment) with his sword. Before he died he shouted, ''Long live the Emperor.'' As he fell on the carpet, he was beheaded by one of his men, acting as a kaishaku, the one who delivers the decapitating sword-blow.

On the day of his death Mishima delivered to his publishers the final pages of Tennin Gosui (The Sea of Fertility), the authors account of the Japanese experience in the 20th century. The first part of the four-volume novel, Spring Snow (1968), is set in the closed circles of Tokyo's Imperial Court in 1912. It was followed by Runaway Horses (1969), The Temple of Dawn (1970) and Five Signs of a God's Decay (1971). Each of the novels depict a different reincarnation of the same being, Honda, who dies at the age of twenty: first as a young aristocrat, then as a political fanatic in the 1930s, as a Thai princess before and after World War II, and as an evil young orphan in the 1960s. The tennin in the tetralogy's Japanese title refers to a supernatural being Buddhist theology, who has similarities with the Christian angel but who is mortal.

Check this out.

29-year-old Paul Anina jumped feet-first from a 10-story building last Friday. Originally, investigators said he was shot multiple times before being run over by an unknown vehicle.

Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows said it appears Anina built a ramp on top of the building so he could get a running start. Meadows said the impact from the fall gave the appearance of gunshot wounds because it caused his bones to fragment.

Meadows said Anina's badly mangled body made officers believe he had been run over.
