Hmmmm when we were there we had lots of yummy stuff but not sure what any of it was called.

We had the best fresh picked, roasted cashews. The locals set up small wooden stands by the roads and sell them.
The charge you by the nut. They were sooooo good!

Wrong country but.....a lot of Sri Lankan food tastes very similar to Thai food.
In fact, India and Sri Lanka have had some influence on Thailand when it comes to their alphabet, which is in some ways based on the Indian letters, and they use a lot of ingredients that came from India and Sri Lanka. A lot of coconut cream, different curries, curry leaves, things like matsaman curry dishes and so on.

And I saw a lot of Indian people in Thailand, don´t know if they live there permanently or were just visiting.

My favorite dish would be pacoras....even though that´s not really a meal but a snack....very dry and crisp even though it´s deepfried.
It is greasy but you don´t really feel the grease. lol

I think it´s made of chickpea flour dough, fried in peanut oil. I also like those deepfried poppadums but, to be honest, most of their really tasty snacks are just too greasy and oily for me.

And I like their curry dishes. A lot of their dishes are very reminiscent of Indian food.

I had a surgeon in NY who did my biopsy and removed a non-cancerous lump from my breast from Sri Lanka.

I have a friend (friend of a friend, actually) who is from Sri Lanka and made a fabulous homemade dinner of multiple curry dishes one night for a birthday party. It was heaven.

I am trying to get our mutual friend to get us all together (in the hopes that I can eventually just skip the middle man and be direct friends with this genius Sri Lankan cook). Her mix of curry, veggies, fruits, sauces, etc. was just amazing. Whenever there was anything spicy, there was a perfect complement to offset it. I've never had a meal like that. I loved it even more because it was just a meal she had learned to make while cooking along with her mother and grandmother. The best chefs make it so seemingly effortless.

I wish I had recipes to share, but if I ever accomplish my goal of becoming better friends with her, I will try to get some.
