Yea, that's some rude shit I'm really bad about not learning someone's name until I need them for something Until I know it, I just say, "hey there..."

I've seen them and had to really cast around for their name, or introduce them to someone else and go completely blank
Its also a pain when someone is trying to tell me about someone - they're telling me this persons name and I just can't place them And I totally agree - its just like facial dyslexia. Well, for me, I think it's related to other things - and I have an appalling memory - but it can be very embarrassing. Plus, I'm always in my own little world... if I'm walking down the street, listening to music, I'm on another planet, usually. I need to be snapped out of it, almost. But, yeah, even when I've been introduced to someone 3 seconds earlier, it's - whoosh - gone, sometimes. Or I can be talking to someone, panicking a little, then it comes out of nowhere. It's very hard to describe... obviously the info's in there somewhere; it just takes a little while to process it. People who can recall names INSTANTLY always amaze me. How do they do it?!

People always call me MANUEL.
Or Miguel with an empathasis on the U. It's pronounced Migel. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits"

Although - when I'm in a group of people - and I'm addressing someone, I usually go through every name in the phone book before I hit the right one. Socially - it cam be amusing. Work-wise - a lil' embarrassing. What NDRU said about business and networking is quite right. yeah when I meet people I am usually so self conscious that I forget their names immediately. I guess that's why they say to repeat their names back to them right away. It focuses your (my) mind on their names and not on your (my) insecurities, and it forces the name into your memory, for a minute at least. But I just call everyone "Hi" and "hey" My Legacy

I've had two people, that didn't know each other, call me MANUEL LOPEZ. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! can I just say, at this point, I am famous for another form of this disorder - specifically reading something, and understanding something else. I regularly take home different DVDs from blockbuster than I actually meant to hire, like the title NEXT to the one I want. Or tins of vegetables I don't like (though I feel more excused with the generic brands that have no photo) it does come from not absorbing the words I'm reading.

I'm embarrased to admit this but.... I've been guilty of this! It's so embarrassing. I used to know a lady through mutual friends whose name was "Vivian". Vivian was one of those amazing people with a big sense of humor and everytime we all got together.... she and I would cut up...makin' jokes and have everyone in the room rolling in the floor with laughter. But for some reason.... I could NOT get her name straight. I often called her "Gloria". As hard as I tried to get her name right, I kept calling her Gloria. She just seemed like a Gloria to me. Now that she's moved away, and we've all fallen out of touch... I can get her name straight. Isn't that just ducky. lol this is the time of the first fast.
