The best directors and their theme....

In your opinion, who are the best directors on English-speaking films? In addition, what are their main themes when doing a film? FOr example: Black pride, gangs, etc.

No problem... these films are some of my favorites by these directors but others might prefer different films. It also depends upon what you are in the mood for, as most of these films are fairly deep and filled with meaning. They are certainly not Hollywood type movies.

I understand that. Thanks once,again.

I am really unfamiliar with these directors, and their works, but hopefully I can see a few of their works.

Nevertheless, do you see these movies just because they are "fairly deep and filled with meaning."? What ele cathces your attention in thought-provoking films?

Acting? Direction? etc.

When you watch some of these films you will see that the direction is PERFECT and the films are just incredible. I have always been drawn to films that deal with philosophical topics or the human condition and these directors are brilliant with this material.

Each of the directors that I mentioned are absolutely brilliant and have shot some of the most wonderful films ever.

I usually prefer thought-provoking films to mindless entertainment, but I can enjoy both depending upon my mood.

Spike Lee. underlying theme: white people are stupid and/or evil.

which is funny, because if it wasn't for the white studio heads, Spike wouldn't get any $ to make his crappy movies. talk about biting the hand that feeds...
