my coworker just joked about how when twitter crashes your first impulse is to tweet about it
and im sure there are many twitter haters on here, but its not the root of all evil despite popular opinion

I am not so sure about that. The org has crashed and been down for days at a time before. What's this about you needing to gain weight? I have a few pounds I can donate.

I found out I have Type II diabetes. I had been losing weight gradually over the last two years. I didn't know why, just figured it was because I was almost 50. I'd work out harder and harder on weights, get stronger and stronger, yet LOSE weight. I went from 185 to 170. After the diagnosis, I had to change my diet and go on meds. It brought my bloodsugar down to almost where it needs to be, but I think I lost another 5 pounds or so. Too damn skinny, and none of my clothes fit. I finally decided I was tired of being skinny, so now I eat 6 times a day (but the right stuff), and pump even harder at the gym. I put on about 4 pounds this week. My goal is to get back to 185 by Christmas. But on the plus side, I now have the legendary 6-pack abs, which is kind of neat.

I went from a Large to a Medium, and from a 34-inch waist to a 31-inch. That sounds great, until you put on your clothes. And then realize that you have about $5,000 worth of stuff in the closet and none of it fits!

Are you going to show them off to the org? Best wishes with keeping it under control.

I was planning to take the great pictures of me the day I hit 50, all ripped and massive, but dang it - the diabetes made me skinny! Maybe when I hit 51. My diabetes was genetic. There was nothing I could do to stop it, at least according to my doctor. Good luck to your dad! Tell him that if he gets his blood sugar back to where it should be, he will be AMAZED at how much better his whole body feels!

Before I found out what I had, my feet were going numb, and I cramped up whenever I stretched a muscle. That should have told me what was happening. I will say this, that while I was getting my blood sugar down, my body went through some weird changes. I was REALLY tired for most of the day (I'd peter out at lunch time), and I had some... I guess, nerve reconstruction, and it made my back and my left arm sore beyond belief. I was afraid it was a heart thing, but I had EKGs and a stress test and all that came back great. But the nerve thing was really weird. I couldn't hold my left arm in certain positions, especially when I sat down or drove a car. And sometimes, it would feel like my tendons were getting ripped right off the bone. All better now, though!

Yes, I have been watched very closely and tested a few times throughout the pregnancy because I have diabetes on both sides of the fam. When my dad was first diagnosed I sent him a few books on controlling his diabetes and cook books since he has always been over weight. I tried to get through to him that if he improved his diet he would feel better. He lost some of his sight due to the disease. I would tell my dad a lot of things but we are no longer on speaking terms.
