I have KFC on a rare occasion now and then, but I prefer my local Chicken Shack. drool wing foodnow But for price, taste and convenience I will often settle for Popeye's chicken.

Is this thread about KFC or your disdain for Islanders and poor people?

KFC, But I see the Islanders and Poor people as the targets of their incredibly expensive and bias advertising campaigns. Our community suffers from bad health and obesity/diabetes mainly due to the reverence KFC has in our communities. i really posted it as these corporations should start putting people before profits. Here some fried chicken costs less than a healthy vegetable laden meal and why (They promote it as convenient and cheap)

that must be global. People been talking and fighting that for years. Poverty stricken areas have the worst quality of food. Systematic if you ask me.

It is systemic. nod But there's a chicken and egg quality to it. In the ghettoes around where I live, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to find a decent supermarket for miles around, yet there are liquor stores on nearly every corner, there are usually mom-and-pop mini-marts (forget about 7-Eleven) that sell everything overpriced except junk food, and there are tons of burger, fried chicken, fried fish, and rib joints all over the place. Because most of these areas are unsafe, you usually won't find a farmers market which will sell fresh produce, even on weekends.

But it's not just a ghetto thing. Mississippi is one of the poorest states in the USA, and it is also the most obese. (It's also in the deep South, which I'll explain later.) In a state which is not exactly known for its healthy cuisine, you have a bunch of small towns in which the only commerce is a chain of fast-food and casual dining restaurants. It's not uncommon to see a whole strip of restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Denny's, Waffle House, Applebee's Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and others all on the same street. But like the ghettoes, you would be hard pressed to find a supermarket anywhere for miles. Yet when President Obama actually wants to send money for healthcare to these parts of the country, the dumbass political leaders of this state (and other Southern states) have fought his plan all the way and have threatened not to take any federal money if and when it is offered to them.

I don't think about it at all.

If I just want some ready fried chicken I just buy it at the deli of the local grocery store, it has it's own set of problems, but it's far cheaper, 8pc mixed $5.99 everyday.

Yeah, the fried chicken at the supermarket deli is very good nod It's not as greasy as the chicken you buy at places like KFC.

Do you all like KFC, or is it just as crap there as it is here (New Zealand). Here the chicken costs over $2 a piece and looks like sparrows rather than chickens and I think its deep fried in fat for a week. Also their servings are stingy unless your like someone known to the owner. If we buy an 8 piece pack, you always get like at least 4 wings with the leg and shit on it, and usually one breast if lucky.
Is it any better in the States or other countries like Oz, Uk etc.
Also u can only find the restaurants in poor suburbs of cities and you always get stuck behind some motherfucka who can't make up their mind. Its seen as a problem here with poor people and Islanders and Maoris.
Lets all flow I am just fascinated by it (Haven't eaten it for a month as I am on a health kick.

UNTHINK KFC and think KGC (Kentucky Grilled Chicken). wink

I think so. But like someone said above a lot of areas, surprisingly the poorer area don't have grocery stores close by just a bunch of fast food place. That's sad.

I'm just getting real irritated with being shanked. I went to Popeye's not long ago and spent $25 on some chicken, 2 slices of pie, 1 side order and 1 drink. I'm passing a grocery store to get home, and was thinking I could have gotten the chicken, a box of Kraft, a liter of soda, half a cake for $15, enough to last me and mine 2-3 days. Not only am I eating unhealthy I'm spending gas money too. The other night the "hood" grocery store had a special of 1 whole roasted chicken, 1 lb. potato salad, 4 hawaiian rolls for $6. Got a bag of salad, some carrots, a half-gallon of ice cream, a liter bottle, for less than $15 again. It's getting to me.
