it all depends on who i'm visiting. if it's a close friend, i don't take much or any of that stuff, cuz if they came to visit me i wouldn't expect them to schlep all that stuff unless it was just toiletries they liked using that they know i wouldn't have. if i'm visiting someone i don't know quite as well, then i will take more of that stuff, because it's just less presumptuous that way. meanwhile, people who know me really well are already familiar with my presumptuous ass.

Ex-Moderator | Like Anxy, it depends on who I'm visiting. If it's a close friend, then usually toothpaste but I always forget my shower gel.
I never bring my own towel, though, unless someone specifies for me to. |

I also steal all the soaps and toiletries from hotels and make little baskets for my guests that way i dont have to worry about what they have used my bar of soap on! ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~

1. take your own soap/body wash? Yes.
2. take your own washcloth/towel? Yes. 3. take your own toothpaste? Yes. or do you just use whatever they have there in their house? Unless I'm visiting my parents, then I use their stuff. Except shampoo/conditioner. I don't like the kind my mom buys, so I always bring my own. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

It depends on the friend and what their living situation is like. In Europe I usually just take a washcloth and toothpaste, and whatever special must have that I cannot live without by of lotions &scents. In Germany I find that they are toiletry obsessed so far as shower and bath aids go. If it's one of my more settled friends living in a large house, rest assured there will be a gazillion bathrooms (one for guests) with at least 4 different types of spa sized of bath gel, bathing salz, shampoo, face mask, ect. ect. Sometimes you go to people's houses here and the bathroom looks like a drugstore, but it's all set out to share. I live on a much smaller scale, but I've grown accustomed to offering people guest toiletries when they visit me. I tell them to bring their deo, and whatever special things they can't do without. But I set out mini soap, herbal toothpaste, fruity shampoo, and some designer or spa-ish shower gel for their stay. Then I pull out a big bottle of body lotion to use randomly, show them where the asprin is for headaches, and just let them have at it

Weird, I always provide clean linens, towels, etc to my guests.
