I usually feel like the right people didn't get to see it. I also take note of how it could have been written or presented more effectively. Typically I'll also save the link to it, because if it's something that I felt strong enough about in the first place, the topic will probably come up again subsequently, and I can then reference my earlier (failed) post. Sometimes that even regenerates interest in the original posting (...like the response included in my signature - it's taken on a life of it's own, long after the point at which it expired).

Though generally I don't sweat it. I post to share my opinion and/or to engage others, not to fish for the most responses or to be popular.

It doesn't really bother me much. Its swings and roundabouts - some of my threads died on their arses and some have been going for weeks.

Sometimes I think that, in gd you need to do your time before you get a decent uptake on a thread - this pissed me off in the early days (I've been a member of several other boards, all of which are far more welcoming of newbies) now I just accept that this is the dynamic of the org, especially GD.

I rarely create threads these days but I post on existing threads a lot.
Most of the threads I created didn´t really bomb except for one thread that didn´t even have any views ! Not one single view. Maybe it was an org glitch or something, or maybe people simply weren´t interested in a discussion about the pros and cons of Syntha 6.

I´m never sad and never take it personally when a thread bombs but most of the time I feel sorry for the original poster when a really interesting topic gets totally neglected or ignored by the majority here. A lot of interesting threads get lost in oblivion because of that.



Speaking of interesting threads....BinaryJustin aka JustinUK1972 used to post some of the most interesting threads here ( and he once suggested creating a Health and Wellbeing forum, which never came to be) and now he seems to be gone for good.
I really miss him around here.

Because here, we can post something that on its own might bomb, but as a part of THIS thread, it's a worthwhile contribution!

For instance, I wanted to tell you all about my tennis tournament experience today. My son and daughter were both playing, but it is a big tournament, and they were at separate sites. The sites were about 7 miles apart, but it took about 20 minutes to get from one to the other.

My wife had to go to a baby shower, so I had to do all the tennis duty.

I spent all day going back and forth on Spencer Highway in Pasadena.

My kids played in 3 total matches, involving 51 games and a tiebreaker.

I got to see 11 of the games and the tiebreaker.

See? If I started a thread on that, it would bomb. But I have THIS thread,and it's a star post!

Neither am I. The reason I brought it up is because it happens sometimes in Music: Non-Prince. I'll remember a song or something that I want to share with others and NO ONE will post and it'll sink like a stone. That leaves me to wonder either no one likes the song, no one remembers the song, or I'm just plain weird. But that's just an example. I've seen others start a thread that may have two or three responses and then sink. Just wondered how others felt about that...
