Although the influence is obvious and Bob was doing the damn thang, I must say that MJ put his own stank on that shit and took it up a few ticks. Like I said.....85% Nah, I ain't cosigning that. [Edited 7/30/09 10:58am] Of Mike's signature moves, the spin (Jackie Wilson backwards), the moonwalk (Jeffery Danials taught him what was known as the backslide) and Mj's own crotch grabbing move, the rest came from Fosse from where I'm sitting.

I remember seeing something that MJ did that was an homage to Singin' in the Rain. I recently bought some dvds of MJ videos and performances. One of 'em had his '95 MTV Awards performance which I'd never seen. I don't know WHAT rock my ass was under cuz I can't believe I missed such an amazing performance, he did the fool. And all I could think was, who in this day and age could perform for 30 minutes on any awards show and shut that bitch all the way down??? Yeah, I couldn't come with nobody either.

[Edited 7/30/09 13:52pm] When my mom realized I loved dancing and watching dancers, she educated me on the greats. She showed me The Nicholas Brothers' performance in Stormy Weather when I was 5 or 6 and Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and Judy Garland movies along the way. She wanted me to know about the different styles I liked so much. I'd watch Michael's videos in a daze studying Beat It, Bad, Thriller...you name it I remember when I was a senior in high school taking dance and my teacher's jaw dropping when we had to do Thriller for Halloween. She was teaching the class and I was like "No, it's like THIS", so she had me assisting her THEN came the moment we had to cast Michael. We're rehearsing it and I said "Okay, I've done it the way you taught them (the background dancers part), I'm gonna do it my way this time" Had them missing steps watching me do the spin and go on my toes "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Yeah, I love movie musicals with great choreography. My all-time favorite is On The Town but the BEST dance sequence ever filmed is the scene from 7 Brides for 7 Brothers amazingly shot in a single continuous take.
