Red lips? - photowhore your red mouth, ladies (and gents, I suppose)

Do you wear red lipstick/lipgloss?

I seem to have an aversion to it but lately I feel like wearing some (I only wear lipgloss).

Any recommendations?

The only red I wear is Mac's Viva Glam I (the first one, introduced in 1994, I believe). And these days I only wear it about once or twice a year. lol

I wear more nude/natural colors now.

Pretty good. I always use a liner, of course, but I don't remember having bleeding or feathering issues.

I LOVE red lipstick- and consider it my signature color. I wear it almost everyday.

A nude or shimmery lip with a smoky or dramatic eye is THE sexiest look possible IMO.cloud9

That said, I do think makeup should be about fun as well as enhancement and one should change things up and enjoy different looks now and then.
Some people do look lovely in a red (must be the right red for them) and a precisely lined upper lid (preferably with liquid)and a "clean" shadow.

Ya, but that's been my look for like...forever. I'm bored and want to change it up a little.

I wear mainly Lancome, Christian Dior and Chanel.
I line my lips with red liner (it will bleed without it) and go for blur-based red (orange based will make your teeth look yellow).
I like: Chanel: Red No. 5
Lancome: Code Red, Stoplight, Ruby Slipper
Dior: Red Vinyl (I think it was discontinued, though mad )
You shold experiement with a few different reds - some will look better than others depending on your coloring.
Also - department store lipstick is better for reds. I tried Loreal. etc. but they just look cheap.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I have a Dior red somewhere...I was given about 15 Dior lip glosses as a gift once.

I'll have to dig it out.

So I'm getting that lip liner is essential. I haven't worn liner in years.

I completely understand.

For intense youwantthismouthIknowyoudo! reds I recommend Christian Dior, Shiseido, YSL and Chanel. As some others pointed out, line your lips. If you're not using a coordinating pencil, you might want to go ever-so-slightly deeper (brighter will change the color) or just get a clear liner.

Dior makes nice glosses. Maybe you should start with glosses first since they're not as intense in color as lipstick and work your way toward wearing lipstick. It's a strong color, so it's not for everyone, but there is one to suit every complexion. (I used to work for Lancome years ago, so I do have some cosmetic expertise biggrin )
You'll probably get compliments, though. biggrin

Gawd, I used to LIVE in red lipstick nod Over the past 10-15 years I gradually wore it less & less, but now I'm so bored w/ all the nude/pink glosses I've accumulated confused I've been wearing my more bold colors lately & it's so weird when you haven't had it on your face in a while, isn't it? eek It's like it's just too much lol I'm gonna get back into them though, especially w/ summer coming - I want flirty, not reserved hmph! I say hit the MAC counter & find some new shades that excite you biggrin I'm overdue for one of those splurges myself lol

Sometimes when I'm going out I wear really dark blackish red lipstick.

It's not the most flattering color on my skin, but I still like how dramatic it looks
If you will, so will I

Me neither. Every once in a while I'll try it about twice a year or so, thinking that I can pull it off, but I can't anymore. lol

It only worked on me back in the late 80s-early 90's to be honest. But then everyone was wearing dark lip colors, so maybe I didn't stand out as much then.

I have tried a burgundy lipstick by Revlon.
I think red lipstick would be too bright for me.

I loved the look on Sonia Rykiels Spring/summer -09 models.. love love love
That's the look I'd love to go for.
I've been searching for the perfect shade red for me but still haven't found it yet. It's has to match my skin tone, hair etc. not look too orange or purple, etc.

I NEVER wear lipstick, but I'm really fond of getting the red lippy.. hmmm It almost feels that I'm gonna start behaving like an adult lady, when I'll start wearing lipstick.. lol

I can't find the right colour red for my complexion either. I'm very pale and have blonde hair, I'd like a change ocassionally, but I'm kinda stuck in a makeup rut at the moment sigh
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

to get the colour I like I have to mix two together

one is from Aldi, so don't mind me falloff

red on me looks bizarre, what I like is a slightly darker version of the natural colour of my lips.

Not the theme park. lol
A line of drugstore makeup. Back in the day lipsticks were like a dollar and shit. You felt like a hooker just buyin one.
I'm sure they've classed things up a bit now. lol

Speaking of hookers. I bet red lipstick looks trampy on you.
