Tom Watson and the British Open For you non-golfers out there (and Graycap, LOL), 59-year-old Tom Watson is leading the British Open going into today's final round. What a story!
Watson is probably the most popular British Open champion ever (that's what they tell us here in the States, maybe some of you across the pond can verify that). He's won it a record-tying five times, and has a tremendous affinity for the Open, the courses, and the crowd. He is a true gentleman, and a man of character. And he's 59!!!!! Last year, 53-year-old Greg Norman led the Open by two shots going into the final round, but couldn't keep it up. And Norman is one of the best-conditioned men you will find. But Tom Watson is Tom Watson! I've got to run the lights at church today and I'm going to miss most of his round. But you can bet he's gonna have some prayers heading his way, no doubt about it!
