OK, so I acknowledge that:
1. Not everyone on here speaks English as a first language
2. Some people get over-excited and type faster than they probably should when replying to something they hold a passion for
3. Prince seemingly invented ‘text speak’ before mobile phones existed, and that certain members of the fan base have picked up and ran with this idea.

Fair enough, but my gripe today is the complete break-down in punctuation, grammar and spelling used within the posts on this and many, many other sites. There are certain threads here that use absolutely no punctuation whatsoever, or there are those-who- randomly, punctuate all. Over the place! for : no apparent-reason. There are simple spelling errors which shouldn’t be happening anymore, ‘know, now, no’, and ‘their, there, they’re’ are all different words and should not be confused, especially when you see the age of some of the people who are making the mistakes.

So, yes, I understand that some people on here aren’t from an English-speaking background, and to be honest, I am envious of your grasp of this language - you can hold your own better than I could on, say, a French forum, but for the rest of you, proof read before you post. It saves me a lot of time when trying to decipher what you are trying to say

Ps. I am no-doubt guilty of spelling and punctuation errors also, but I do try and re-read and correct before I post, and hope that I at least make sense when I type on here.

For me, some are acceptable, like 'kno'='know', 'u'='you', 'wateva'='whatever', 'wat'='what', 'jus'='just' and a few others.
There are certain words that jus shouldn't be shortened
and certain words u shouldn't leave the 1st letter out of...like 'wrong'!

There is obviously a lot of pain and anger surrounding this subject.
