Ladies and Gents, meet the new Rainbow Brite!

http://www.rainbowbrite.net/

Check out the top left of the page beside the title banner, and the two Colour Kid dolls featured. I literally did a spit-take of my tea when I saw this bastardization. Why, in the name of all that is good and decent, did they make my childhood hero grownup and sexy?

mad

disbelief

I knew the way other old-school toy brands had been revamping their images, but this is the first I'd heard of what's being done to Ms. Brite. What the fuck were they thinking?

I don't see what's considered so "sexy" or "grown" about either. confuse
In comparison to a lot of dolls out there they still seem pretty innocent to me.

Changing cute little toddlers to pre-teens in tight clothes with parted, wet lips isn't making them sexy? The new "Rainbow" designs look like something you'd see in so-called "teen" porn before the clothes come off.

cuz they're tryna make kids into Hos. then they can make money off of their teen pregnancies, diseases, mental instability, drug use, gang violence and all the other shit that comes with robbing kids of a childhood.

Sorry but, when was the last time you saw a latino baby that wasn't wearing some form of gold jewelry. Baby girls in my family sport the baby wrist chains w/ the black fist and beads, and get their ears pierced when the girl is four days old.

So that's actually an pretty accurate description.

That's not really a problem of that design. It's a cartoon and nothing is revealing. And why can't lips be parted? All cartoons cant have a line for a mouth.

Is there a big difference in design? Yes.
Does it seem extreme or overly sexualized for a cartoon portraying a teen or aimed at the tween market. Not IMHO.

The problem lies in the people who find that to be a sexy look and something that belongs in porn IMO.

Her hair doesn't look highlighted to me, it's just a different style of cartooning. Her eyebrows look normal and it doesn't look like she is wearing lipstick either.

You guys are seriously grasping at straws here.

Exactly. Says more of the person interpreting the image than it does about the image itself.

I don't see it as sexual in any way at all.

I don't see it either. It's a different style, absolutely, but I don't see it as sexualizing the children in any way.
