Suggestions for healthy snacks/snacking I'm having some trouble losing pounds when my boyfriend suggested that I stop, what he calls "starving myself" and start eating some healthy snacks in between meals. The problem is, when I did eat granola bars or Kashi items, I really didn't see the pounds dropping any quicker either.
I already eat carrots, almonds with raisins, or some kind of fruit as snacks, but he is saying that i'm still limiting myself. Do you guys have any suggestions? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

If u continue to eat granola bars, make u sure eat the Kashi brand. The others are usually loaded with sugar.
Be careful with the raisins, especially if they're coated with sugar. As for healthy snacks, I keep nuts of all varities at my desk, except for peanuts. Other healthy snacks: peanut butter on whole bread bread Slice of low-fat cheese on 1/2 English muffin Yogurt as long as it's not the sugary kind if you must eat chocolate, make sure it's dark chocolate. Use honey in place of sugar (if you drink hot tea, u'll start to prefer it over white or refined sugar) Careful with the carrots - they are one of the vegetables that have a lot of sugar, along with corn. If you drink fruit juice, make sure it is 100% juice. Try to stay away from high fructose corn syrup (read labels!) And if you can bare it, do not eat carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, etc.) after 3:00 pm (you'll wake up with a flatter stomach and if you eat ur carbs early in the day, you'll give ur body time to burn them and not store them as fat. While eating carbs, try to stick with unrefined carbs: wheat bread, brown rice, whole grains Water, water, water - the less u drink, the more u retain Sorry if that was long winded.

one of my favorite healthy snacks is apples w/ peanut butter. i get the little single serve things of peanut butter for work (and YES, they have a reduced fat variety) and slice up an apple, and i'm good to go. plus, the single serve size keeps me from going too hog wild with the PB.

thats sounds like a good idea. I'm a peanut butter monster myself too, so those little serve size things would benefit me. Thanks for the suggestion. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ex-Moderator | If you know what's working for you, why are you listening to his advice? If you're not hungry all the time, then you don't need any other snacks.
But if you aen't truly being satisfied by your current diet there are no magic no-calorie snack. Fresh veggies, fruit and nuts are always going to be your best bets. Protein and complex carbs (whole grains) will keep you satisfied longer but also have higher calorie counts. You could also try low fat cheese or yogurt. I've been on a calorie restricted diet for 4 months now and have lost almost 30 pounds. I don't snack cause I just don't have room for it in my diet but if I do get SUPER hungry in between meals I grab one of the above. |

diet Coke! The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Never eat prepacked snack bars n mattercwhat fuckin brand they are. If u wanna drop lbs beyond ur ultimate healthy weight cut out any n all sugar, even in the form of fruit. Anything that IS prepacked n has more than 4g of sugar...u need to nip that shit n the bud. The only sugar I WOULD reccomend is a handful of frozen blue berries in a protein shake n this is a meal, NOT a snack. For snacks eat almonds (not flavored) a handful of beans or edmame, forget the carrots they have sugar, peanut butter spoons (the organic low sugar kind). Actually yanno what, just eat fish w olive oil n seasonings, salad no dressing, butts, n protein shakes....that's it, you,ok lose the weight. I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies Whats it all worth only the heart can measure It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

I already eat carrots, almonds with raisins, or some kind of fruit as snacks, but he is saying that i'm still limiting myself. Do you guys have any suggestions? You're not limiting yourself. It's just a matter of balancing your sugar and caloric intake to achieve the initial result you want, then going into your maintainace phase. Besides, alot of the snack bars are so loaded with sugar and polysatuturated fats and extra calories that it defeats the purpose to intake those (at least when you're in your initial weight loss phase). As long as you'reeating 3 square meals a day and flushing yourself with liquids, you can do this. Instead of carrots, for 10 days try a bag of one of these: -20 peanuts -red pepper strips -celery ribs spread with 2 tsp. peanut butter -wheat thins or other unsweeted wheat crackers -whole wheat tortilla that's been toasted and sprinkled with cinnamon & no calorie sugar substitute unlimited water & tea. If you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, it keeps you full, keep your hands busy (taking the place that snacking ordinarily would), and helps flush stuff OUT, keeping that skin pretty, too. Maybe for a week,if you can, cut out the raisins. If you're excercising regularly you're going to see results soon. Just for one week try to decrease your sugar intake a bit and flush yourself with as much water rich veggies as possible. then gradually progress back on up to adding dried and fresh fruits as snacks. Other than that, what do your meal choices look like? What is a typical meal for you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

If you don't mind, missfee, how many more pounds must you lose before you're at your target weight?
...And once you're there, will you have the desire to stick with this sort of diet indefinitely or increase your physical activity? Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I was told to add cayenne pepper in the mornings to my routine. It curbs hunger, and eating some protein rich nuts in the afternoon as a snack. I love almonds/cashews/pistachios/macadamias (sp) and more sleep. Cut out stimulants.
More sleep helps you have more oxygen in your body for better fat burning. No coffee, or alcohol to get you to sleep, and no nicotine. Those are all stimulants and mess with your REM sleep. I lost 10 pounds so far (in 3 weeks).... still have a long road to go.

Actually, protein and carbs have exactly the same number of calories per gram - 4. Fat has 9 calories per gram. (Alcohol has 7.) Nuts have a lot of fat (as a percentage of total calories), but it's good fat. The also have some protein, too - and not a lot of carbohydrate. All of which means they keep you full longer than something carby - like raisins, which are pretty much all sugar. Anxiety's suggestion of an apple with peanut butter is a great one - it's nicely balanced in terms of carbs, protein and fat. An apple and a piece of cheese would be good, too. (And don't worry about making it low-fat. A lot of times, the process used to strip the fat out of the food - and what they replace the fat with - is worse for you than just eating the natural fat.) We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
