I had my son circumcised.

My father told me that he had his done in his twenties! omfg after hearing about what he had to go through...I vowed to do it at a time where it was quick, and he would never remember the pain.

If I have another son, he too will be circumcised.

Oh, just a note...I looked up the Merriam-Webster's online dictionary meaning: to cut off the prepuce of (a male) or the clitoris of (a female)
omfg I didn't know that was the name of doing that to a female too?!?!?!?! shake

I don't see it as being any less awful and barbaric than the female genital mutilation that occurs in certain African countries...

Actually, female genital mutilation involves cutting out the entire clitoris (which would be like cutting off the entire tip of the penis, not just the outer layer of skin surrounding it. Also, quite often it's not just the clitoris that is cut off, it's also the inner (and occasionally the outer) vaginal lips as well. And the custom of female mutilation originated with the idea that it would prevent women from "sleeping around".

But, in theory, ian, I agree with you: it's the same concept.

Sure, I'm familiar with the process I think, from seeing a few documentaries about it. I just meant that I feel it is the same thing really - genital mutilation, and I feel it should be illegal in all civilised countries.

(No offence to those people posting here saying they've had their sons circumcised - I'm sure you felt you were doing the best thing for them)

May I ask what you think of cosmetic surgery, or any other surgery done? How can it be considered mutilation if the penis looks better (imo), smells better, and is easier to keep clean - without it affecting the ability to cum?

When it is done to a female, they remove the clitoris to remove the pleasure of orgasm, which basically makes her a baby-machine. That alone is a huge difference, imho.

I don't have much appreciation for any kind of surgical procedure which is not medically necessary. However, at least in the case of cosmetic surgery it is usually an adult who has the ability to decide whether or not to have the surgery. A young child being mutilated has no say in the matter.

As for the perceived benefits of circumcision you describe - utter rubbish. Men are perfectly capable of keeping themselves clean, hygienic, and smelling lovely if they want to, without having to mutilate their genitalia.
