Male Circumcision--Yes or No?

Is circumcision just a normal, traditional part of being born male in America? If you're not circumcised, do you get laughed at or looked at strangely by others in the lockeroom, and wish your parents had had it done when you were born? Or is circumcision a barbaric, creul, painful thing to do to an infant--something that's now been shown to not be medically necessary?

If you have a baby boy--did you have him circumcised? If you have one--will you?

I, myself, am circumcised.

My two boys, likewise...only cuz my wife want's their wankers 2 lool like mine!

My brother-in-law is not.

Now, I've read that the veins in the foreskin make sex more enjoyable due 2 the extra sensations... therefore, I now hate my brother-in-law.

Still, my dick must b better lookin' than his!

Circumcision is traditional genital mutilation. It should be illeagal.

It makes me sick that guys who have had this done to them insist (almost universally) on doing it to their sons, because they can't stand to think of their own penis as somehow "defective" or something like that. Grow up. I assume that you and your penis get along just fine, despite your having being mutilated, but that is no reason to do it to your son.

Let him grow up and make his own decision about his body. If he wants to be circumcised later, he can. And then he will get decent anesthesia. It is SHAMEFUL that we cut off a part of a child's very sensitive skin without adequate aneshtesia (or sometimes any at all) just because they are small and helpless and we can get away with it.

*pfft*

From what I've been told, back when I was born (1978), the majority of baby boys born in the U.S.A. were circumcised. Today, it's supposed to be about a 50/50 split.

Interesting how Americans, even non-Jewish Americans seem to be frequently be circumcised. Why is that? Personally I find the act a barbaric act of child mutilation, and I am dead set against it.

Funny also how otherwise educated and intelligent American women can be quite vocal in being in favour of circumcision. What is that about? Really, is isn't any dirtier, or smellier to be uncircumcised so forget that myth - unless the man in question is just incapable of washing and basic hygiene. Perpetuating and supporting the mutilation of your child's genitalia to please your sense of aesthetics just means that your sense of aesthetics are fucked.

I don't see it as being any less awful and barbaric than the female genital mutilation that occurs in certain African countries...

All of this, of course, is in my own opinion only. If your wacky religion requires to damage parts of your body, go knock yourself out.

I'd like to pose a question for the ladies...

Do you prefer your man to be "cut" or "uncut"?

Does a circumsized penis look better to you?

I've dated girls who would NEVER be with a guy if he was uncircumsized,so I'd like your thoughts on this.

Of course,we already know how CalhounSq feels about this smile

I'm not sure if you're talking about American women in general or me here, Ian (you did say "otherwise intelligent", not sure that applies to me biggrin), but I'll respond anyway...

Perhaps my sense of aesthetics is indeed fucked, but it's a preference I can't shake. I like it snipped... nod

If I were with someone I cared about & he were uncut, I wouldn't just end the relationship, lol (can a sista make a joke???) but it WOULD take some getting used to. It's simply not as appealing to me...

Damn, that was worth less than twocents huh? lol

i had my son circumcised at birth for a couple of reasons...

- i have had 2 friends, a friends son and 1 male relative who at between the ages of 4 and 10 years old had to be circumcised due to medical reasons...they all swear it was the most painful thing they had to go through and all wished their parents had had it done at birth.

- my uncle married into the Jewish religion and at 42 years old was circumcised...i think he regrets the marriage.

- my son's father was circumcised and wanted his son to be too so i left the final decision up to him.

it is a very difficult decision to make and takes a lot of thought, i don't think my son will come to me in 10 years time and yell at me for the choice i made, at least i hope not.

wink
you're only as old as you feel..............so how old do i feel horny

Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

Actually, female genital mutilation involves cutting out the entire clitoris (which would be like cutting off the entire tip of the penis, not just the outer layer of skin surrounding it. Also, quite often it's not just the clitoris that is cut off, it's also the inner (and occasionally the outer) vaginal lips as well. And the custom of female mutilation originated with the idea that it would prevent women from "sleeping around".

But, in theory, ian, I agree with you: it's the same concept.
