I can't wait!!!!! August of next year I will be going on a Mediterranean cruise with 10 of my cousins and friends.

Here's the cruise we're looking at:

Barcelona to Monte Carlo, Monaco, Livorno, Italy, Civitavecchia, Italy, Naples/Pompeii, Italy, Palma Majorca, Spain and back to Barcelona.

I've been doing the research about getting into major cities from the ports. Some are do able, some are not.

Anyone have any advice? Anyone want to share their dream/nightmare cruise experience?

I don't know anything about cruies, but I have been to Livorno, Naples/Pompeii and Barcelona. Livorno is very, very beautiful and I also loved Barcelona a lot. I did not see a lot of Naples, but I climbed the Vesuvo and looked down on Pompeii and I guess that's a must do just because it's history .

I went on a cruise on my homeymoon - Spain, Portugal, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Madeira. The locations were awesome, but I have to be honest, I wouldn't cruise again.
I reckon you'll be ok as there's a large group of you going. It'll be fun.
How long are you staying in each of the ports? Are there any arranged trips into the cities?

Oh...when you asked for "cruise" advice I didn't see this coming.

Each port has an average stay of 12 hours. I'm going to have to run into Rome and run out. There's not going to be much time. There should be some arranged trips into the city. I was planning on making them myself. If the ship has some then that's better. I have to check on that.

I don't remember how far it is from Naples, but I don't think it was far, so an hour might be correct. I have no idea about transport as we were going by car which everybody was telling us is dangerous in the area of Naples.
