My GF wanted to go see it and needless to say I had no desire to sit through it. I saw part of Borat and didn`t care for it.

Without giving away too much of the plot ( smile ) I did make one major observation. Cohen`s Bruno character acts just exactly like all of the gay men that I know. I couldn`t tell if he was trying to make fun of gays or of non-gays. I walked away from this movie thinking that every gay man that I know acts EXACTLY like Bruno. This point was reinforced as I was leaving the theater and a group of 3 or so gay men were acting just like Bruno; the problem isn`t that they were "acting" that was who they really were. I wonder if that was Cohen`s intent. Just my humble opinion.

The Bruno character isn't German, either. He's Austrian, so is Serious. For her to watch this movie, in German or in English, could probably end up in 2 hours in a movie theatre of her going hmm WTF hmm ???

lol

nod
It doesn't surprise me that Cohen who is Jewish chose Austria for his character.
I'd feel a bit like someone from from Kazakhstan watching Borat I guess lol.
I really enjoyed Borat and I guess I'd enjoy Bruno too if it wasn't for the German words that sound so weird to me.
BTW it's really funny how Austrian "celebrities" fight who of them may have inspired the character of Borat giggle. Cohen said it was a well known TV host named Alfons Haider and he is so proud about that even though he doesn't remind me of Bruno at all lol.

This piece of a review stuck out to me:

http://movies.msn.com/mov...r%C3%BCno/
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Owen Gleiberman
"The movie is a toxic dart aimed at the spangly new heart of American hypocrisy: our fake-tolerant, fake-charitable, fake-liberated-yet-still madly-closeted fame culture."
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

Ok I was a big fan of Borat and I can definitely get down with some alternative type humor since I grew up on Naked Gun, Benny Hill, and that type stuff. But by far this Bruno movie was nothing other then a few shocking scenes of just some straight homosexual behavior.

During the movie there were over three sets of people who walked out do the the unnecessary just gay scenes. I am not a homophobic but honestly the stuff in there was just weird and sometimes not funny. It was gay just to be gay. So if you are one of the type brothers who say no homo after ever sentence you will not want to even stop close to this movie, because essentially this movie isn't about a funny gay character its just this dude do gay acts for about an hour and change. The camera work where you could tell what scenes were staged and which were you got punked style were not well differentiated either. So I implore you not to waste your money on this movie. If Borat was a 8.5 this movie was like a 5.

I can see it for free and I'm probably not going to bother.

I understand why this kind of "gotcha" humour is funny, it just doesn't amuse me.

I haven't. I am hesitant as the German words thrown into it may be strange for me. They are strange in the promotion interviews he does for sure. I read that it is impossible to watch it in German as it doesn't work at all, so I would have to watch it in English. I know that doesn't help you at, sorry about that hug lol.

Martina, for once I am not making fun of you or your heritage but please let me say this: I LOVE how German speaking people do not get how (& why) the general (English speaking) public is making fun of the German accent when German speaking people talk English.....

I am saying this as a Dutch someone who has lived in Germany (and has visited Austria) for many years.....my German friends just don't get it when I do a 'Schwarzenegger'..... falloff

Not nearly as good as Borat. It's funny in places, but it comes off much more contrived and the storyline isn't as natural.

Don't get me wrong, I totally get it why people do it. The German accent deserves to be made fun of IMO nod wink. I make fun of Arnold S.'s accent all the time, especially as he cannot speak proper German anymore either falloff. But the thing is that to German speaking people it's usually not funny because it just sounds weird when people do it. Exactly the same when Germans imitate the Austrian accent. Very rarely it's funny, usually it's just poorly done. And I guess your Schwarzenegger imitation just doesn't sound anything like an Austrian speaking bad English to your friends even though you probably think he does wink.

BTW I remember you made fun of my accent too falloff wink.

Did I mention that I was shocked at the amount of cock in this film? I think if you took all the male full-frontal I've seen in my lifetime (not including filthy, filthy porn, of course) and multiplied it to the cock-power of ten, you still wouldn't have nearly the amount of cock that is in this movie.

I think there were even some angry ones in there. eek I didn't even know that was possible in an R-rated flick.
