I can't roll with Phelps because of similiar reasons for using a vehicle to propel, water works in a similiar fashion.

I find that hilarious. falloff

The swimsuits, though, are coming under a LOT of scrutiny. That would definitely cloud the issue where swimmers are concerned for GOAT.

In my opinion, the greatest athlete of all time was Carl Lewis. To be THAT damn dominant over the course of 12 years in a sport that is ONLY about speed and is muddied in PEDs, is pretty fuckin' impressive. Then tack on the Long Jump in which he also competed in at the same high level for nearly as long - just amazing.

I can't consider an athlete as being GAOAT that played in a team sport, since his success hinged on the help of teammates.

Carl Lewis was one of my idols as a kid. Remember that 9ft+ jump he did that was erroneously ruled a foul? The toe of his shoe was overhanging the board but didn't make a mark. I really hope he was clean. He had a couple of iffy moments later in his career but seems to have been clean in the prime. Is it possible to really know though? sigh

That Lewis vs. Powell long jump slug-fest in Tokyo at the WC in '91 was incredible.

lol I find it REAL.

And the swimsuits don't raise a flag for me. It's about gaining an advantage, the same way a basketball player would wear superior sneakers.

Yeah, I remember that jump. And I also hope he was clean. What makes me think he was clean was how much shit he raised about other dirty runners. Most dirty athletes don't do that.

Yep, and it's not like he wasn't in the spotlight for that and for his success and wouldn't get tested.

I find the total lack of understanding of physics, dynamics and resistance laws to be utterly hilarious on this thread as well as an indictment on education in the respective countries. lol

I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
