I think the gripe is valid, up to a point. I'm all for individuality and expression, but personally speaking, I will tend to skip posts that are just the wrong side of that 'individual' line. Does that matter to the poster? Probably not. Just sayin'. Content is probably still more important though.

I feel like I make more errors than I used to, since I started "hanging out" on the internet. I would say that I am a fairly good writer (writing was a major component of my art history degrees) and have an above average grasp on the English language and its vocabulary; but more and more, I catch myself misusing "it's/its", "there/their", and possessive apostrophes. Sometimes I'm typing and in my mind I think, 'there' but I type "their" or something like that. I think it is because there is so much poorly written and misspelled junk on websites, blogs, etc. It makes me feel like I'm being dumbed down.

I do try to use proper grammar and all, but I notice I get reason #2 carried away, and sometimes do not read the post before I put post it. Then I realise It's full of errors and was written by an inmate on death row or something. Now I try to check or use the edit function.
The other problem and some orgers must have it, is being a two finger typer and sometimes its hard to coordinate the fingers so the letter one finger was supposed to type second comes first, an example being Pirnce.
The other reson is having fat fingers (that accidentally press two keys at once) on a keyboard with small finger pads (Although I know there are such things as 'ergonmic keyboards')
The final reason is laziness and the fact Prince is the master of semi literate English and text language.

Some spelling mistakes may also be from the fact that people in countries of former British influence (not Canada) spell some words differently like neighbour instead of neighbor, labour, favour, colour and organisation instead of labor, favor, color, organization.
