Taste/smell associations you just can't shake!

My parents used to give me spearmint gum when I was carsick. Spearmint now in ANY form makes me feel nauseous.

My friends used to spray White Linen perfume in the bathroom to mask the kitty litter tray. Now I've noticed some older ladies that smell like cat piss to mr disbelief

how about you? fart

Hmmm, I've noticed that but I've never had a friend who sprayed perfume on kitty litter! lol

Smells don't hold much association to things for me but my fiancee will often comment that a smell reminds her of something. Maybe it's a woman thing?

I can't stand the smell of Lysol. We used to spray it liberally in the restrooms in the day program for seniors I used to work at. It would mix with the stench of emptied colostomy bags and other, equally revolting smells, and now Lysol in any form only makes me feel like there's an overwhelming air of shit around me.
It's what you make it.

Those of you in or around the military might get what I'm saying, but, kinda long story, I grew up an USAF brat, then joined the USNavy and married a sailor.

Military establishments have a certain smell. I think it's partly paint (because everything is painted over dozens of times), old furniture and old buildings. It ALMOST, smells like going into a dusty attic, or grandma's house.

I'm not around the military on a regular basis anymore, but, on occassion, go to military bases or functions. When I walk into the building it's like I'm a kid again. It brings back fond memories.

lol
I'm firmly planted in denial
