Need some advice There is this guy that I work with that is quite attractive. He's got a job, driver's lisence, car, had his own place and is in school...he's a cool/nice person. The only problem is that he is young. He turns 19 on aug 1st and i'm 23. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal if i was a male and he was female because a lot of guys at my age or guys in general date females younger than them because they mature slower than women. Seems to be a double standard. Really maturity level wise, you can have this guys that are older and are losers and really immature. I remember dating this one guy who was 20 and i was 21...he had no job...couldn't keep a job... no car, no driver's lisence, bounced around from relatives homes...wasn't in school and smoked weed all day. Yes, i'm very embrassed that I dated this guy and no i did not have sex with him. So really it depends on the person. I've known him for quite some time now...he was interested in me...gave him my number. what do u think i should do?

Theres only a 4 year age gap which really isnt a big deal at all , just go on a date with him and see how it works out .... its not a lifelong commitment
Good luck , have fun | |

Age and personality traits needn't be the same thing. Most of my girlfriends have been older than me.

#1: I'm glad this ain't about naming your baby after MJ/Prince
#2: "drivers license" #3: if he seems cool & you both want the same things out of a relationship right now, what the hell? 4 years isn't a hell of a lot, if he ends up being too youthful just take it back to friendship. Don't let his age automatically knock him out if it's only 4 years Plus 19 is prime age for energy & dickery

I know where you're coming from. I've really fallen for a guy who is 7 years younger than me (I'm 35) and would love to take it further. It took a bit of time for me to get my head around the age difference but came to the conclusion we get on so well it doesn't matter. Only problem is that he just wants to be friends
Don't let the age gap get in the way, give things a go - if you get on then age doesn't matter.

4 years is nothing at all. You like him? Go for it. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

The last guy I was into is 8 years younger than me. He's actually more mature than I am.
I never cared about his age. He has his shit together and that I was all I cared about. Since I'm about to turn 40, I'm looking to hook up with someone at least 10 years younger.

I've come across some men because of tickets have a suspended license or none at all. Just driving and driving. I say...go for it. My girlfriend started dating her now husband at the same age. He was 19 and she is 23. Its now 20 years later...still married with a kid.

Never date a guy you work with. The age difference is not an issue, but if you can handle seeing a guy almost everyday AFTER a break-up (esp. if he burns you) then go for it.

This is a good point actually, not to discourage but it will be so uncomfortable if it doesn't work out

Yep standard good advice. A well known work no no. Just think of all the people at work that will find out and they will. Even the boss. And when it breaks up one of you may end up leaving coz it's unbearable being around him/her. I have always had strong aversion to dating men that I work with... Hell, I never dated guys I went to school with either. Gets too sticky... and not in a good way. I wouldn't say the age is a bad thing but, I do get where you're coming from. Good Luck! Shake....shake, shake, shake.

I work at a nightclub as a lounge attendant in the bathroom. he is one of the security guards so we don't see or talk much when i'm at the club. I would have normally agreed with the "never date your co-workers" rule too, but since you have said this statement, then no, you really don't work with him. My bf and I met in a similar way, he's the security guard for the office building that I work in. And we do just fine (though we are both finding new jobs because we hate our current ones, lol) I'd give you the greenlight and say give him a chance. What do you have to lose? It's just a date. And don't worry about the age difference. My bf is 22 and i'm 26, and he's the most mature man that I've been with in my life. So go figure, all young guys aren't immature...you do find some needles in the haystack with some sense. Get his number, or suggest that you guys go hang out sometime and see if mature conversation is there. If so, then go for it! [Edited 7/6/09 7:32am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
