As Project Runway host Heidi Klum always reminds designers, “As you know in fashion, one day you’re in, and the next you’re out.” The same can be true when it comes to networks.



When the fashion design challenge returns for it’s sixth season next month, the major difference that fans will notice is that it will now be seen on a new network. After spending five seasons calling Bravo home, the show is now moving over to Lifetime.

“I am a huge fan of Project Runway and could not be happier that season six will be premiering on Lifetime, the number one network for women,” Lifetime Network’s President and CEO Andrea Wong said in a press release.

Project Runway’s new home has made a name for itself by focusing on women, in part through original movies and television series. According to published reports, Project Runway has signed a five-year deal with Lifetime.

Its former network Bravo is now widely known for its many different reality series, including “Millionaire Matchmaker,” “Real Housewives,” “Top Chef,” and “Make Me Supermodel,” among others.

Although the networks are changing, fans of the show will still see all of the familiar faces. Supermodel Klum will continue as host and will be joined by regular judges Michael Kors, a fashion designer, and Marie Claire Fashion Director Nina Garcia. Tim Gunn will also be on hand to mentor the fashion designer contestants.

“The talent in this all-new season is nothing short of amazing, and I can’t wait for all the fans to see the incredible work of these brilliant designers,” Wong also said in the press release.

And of course the ultimate prize remains the same – a chance for the designers to show their stuff at New York Fashion Week.

The sixth season of Project Runway will premiere on Lifetime at 10 p.m. on Thursday, August 20.
