The most boring movies you've ever seen? I kind of watched Wall-E this weekend and it got me thinking about boring movies, the kind that are worse than bad ones because you just wish something would happen, anything at all. Wall-E turned out to be decent after the first two or three hours, when absolutely nothing happened, but until then, it was pretty rough going. I had to FF a lot.
Other boring movies for me: Children of Men goes on and on forever and nothing happens. Lost in Translation is pretty much lost on me. Several Mike Leigh films would make this list if I could remember their names. What about you? What do you nominate for the most boring movies ever?

What do you nominate for the most boring movies ever? thank you! i thought i was the only one bored to tears from that fucking movie . everyone fucking worships that thing . i mean, of course scarlett johansson is like the finest woman alive (a decent actress also, btw ), but she hadn't even fully "developed" yet for this movie . regardless, i didn't buy her and bill murray's "friendship" in the least. no chemistry and yeah, not a fucking thing happened . also, just watched that the girlfriend experience and that one was pretty fucking dull, lifeless and uneventful also . sasha grey life's a bitch, but god forbid the bitch divorce me...

Really? All the people that got killed along the way and the discovery of the first baby in decades and you thought nothing happened in the film? Interesting how people can see movies differently.

And the fact the rich brother guy just happened to have put Michelangelos David in his front room (i think it was that sculputure?) What you don't remember never happened

Really? All the people that got killed along the way and the discovery of the first baby in decades and you thought nothing happened in the film? Interesting how people can see movies differently. I know, I know. I've had tons of arguments over this movie. But the people who get killed off are killed in direct order of their level of "interestingness" for me. That is, (SPOILER ALERT) when Julianne Moore was killed right at the beginning, she took most anything good about it with it. And then it just got worse from there, so by the end, it's just down to the Key woman, who might be the worst actress ever. Worse than not explaining why there aren't any babies, and why the Key is having a baby when no one else is, do they ever explain why the Key is so damn stupid? I mean, the guy is dead, truly dead, in her boat, and it's quite obvious he's dead, but she keeps talking to him like he's gonna answer eventually. I'm sorry, I know tons of people who love that movie and I respect their opinions, but I just found that movie insufferable.

Noises Off. It's probably the most-performed play ever and the movie had such a good cast. But my gawd! It is just painful to watch. [Edited 6/17/09 13:05pm] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Hope Floats made me want to gouge my eyeballs out and feed them to the dogs.
The End of the Affair did too (and I'm a HUGE Julianne Moore fan) as did The English Patient. Snoozeville.

I have tried several times to watch Lost in Translation and every single time I end up having sex instead. Not a bad thing, but still...I have never seen the whole movie.

Everytime I see Scarlett Johansson's ass in the opening scene, I wanna have sex too, but there's never anyone else around.

The English Patient - (Zzzzzz)
Slumdog Millionare - (I swore I wouldn't watch it but my friends insisted. I hated every second of it, that film spun more shit then Werribee) The Notebook - (Kill me, kill me now)

Howard the Duck
Born on the Fourth of July I think those are the only two movies I've ever walked out of. I fell asleep during Slumdog Millionaire and don't feel like I missed a thing.

I saw a movie that started off promisingly enough, and I forgot it's name and who stars in it
about a guy who has the chance to torture the person he believes killed his child. Only he begins to suspect that his victim is just some random guy who he sets free and ends up in a cat and mouse chase inside one building. I went to bed around the time when I saw this wasn't going to get any more interesting than that

I had issues with Children Of Men but not boredom, just questions that weren't answered. It just left me banging my head in frustration. Then I read the book, which answered the questions, one was even answered in the overview on the back cover. The book was much better.
As for the most boring film in history ever... 2001 A Space Odyssey. I love movies and can sit through anything but this was just boring beyond belief. I can't believe that so many people rate this so highly. [Edited 6/17/09 16:49pm] RIP
