While eating, do you talk or do you stay quiet?

I would say that unless I stay somewhat quiet and focus on the meal, I will be the last one to finish.

Yes, this could be a metaphor.

It all depends on who I'm dining with. Most of the time, I'm the quiet one.

I can be a talker with good friends, if they are the type to be listeners, that is. I do have a few friends who REALLY like to talk and then I tend to keep my mouth shut. I'm not one to fight for attention.

It really depends on the company, eh?

I can be especially quiet in groups of people. I love to listen.

I grew up in a family that loved to talk with its mouths full. Drove me crazy. I got pretty good at just putting my head down and ignoring everything.

But now if I'm dining with someone with good table manners, then I love a nice conversation over dinner.

I'm a talker... so much so I usually don't eat my food. I sip while I talk and I take little bites of food so that my mouth isn't full and I can still continue conversation without having to pause too much for chewing or looking like a cow chewing hay. eww.

I tend to order food that are easy to eat, I stay away from things like linguine and cut up my salad to small pieces and such. If you are boring me, then I leave quickly, no dessert, no coffee, sometimes no entrée.

I'm a talker. I usually don't eat very fast because I enjoy conversation at a meal.

I'm the same, and if it's a house dinner I'm usually the one to gravitate more to kitchen helping or topping drinks instead.

I eat very fast. I talk before and after, but when it comes to eating, I'm all business shovelling it in.

It depends on the situation and who I am with. If I am with my kids, I use that dinner/supper time to catch up on their lives. If out with friends, and once again depending on the siutation I can chat up a storm. I like social aspects of eating with friends.

Yeah, sometimes the meal is more of an excuse to meet up and communicate, and the act of mastication is really a formality. nod
