The man was found innocent in a court of law. Regardless, this is not the thread for that crap. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I never considered myself much of a fan, though I do own a few albums. But when I heard the news today my stomach just dropped. I couldn't say anything for a few minutes. I had more text messages in the space of an hour than I've ever had all at once on any topic before.
You should've seen folk at work when I got there this evening. Instead of the usual laughter everyone was just silent. to his kids....

Whatever side of the fence you stand on on his infamy (I myself have always been a fairly harsh critic of his behavior), there's just no denying that this is a man who changed the face of music, videos, dance, performance and fame.
He was clearly a troubled soul, yet managed to also give the world a lot of joy and I hope he is finally at peace.
[Edited 6/25/09 19:39pm] [/quote] that would be my thinking as well. i saw him in concert once, i was given free tickets, other than that i wouldn't have bothered. i like a lot of his music but distanced myself when all the allegations came out. still the news feels sur-real. rip mj

This sums it up for me as someone who was a part of the 80s generation who listened to the trio that was Prince, Jackson and Madonna. Prince being my personal choice but you couldnt help but appreciate some of Jackson's brilliant songs as well. My thoughts are with his brothers and sisters and his children. R.I.P . I think it is a testament to how huge a star he was that even non-fans can feel in some way affected by his passing.

Was there ever a death that took that long to confirm after it started surfacing someone died? tmz and gossip sites are not held to a legal accord that news sites are. as a former news person, ethics violations are serious and cause fines, firing, and ruin your good name. sometimes the highly reputable sites don't have celeb stuff as quickly because they are WAITING for confirmation. remember the coal mine incident in 2005 when they reported that all the workers trapped survived and they didn't? Folks lost their jobs behind that.

i am really surprised at how i am affected by his passing. he had some fab songs and hearing so many of them now is bringing it home how tragic it is.
my heart especially goes out to his children.

Damn. Just, Damn. True greatness will forever be missed. Mozart, elvis, MJ...transendent musicians all passed too early. Before anyone objects, MJ's significance is at the level of anyone that has came before or after. Very unfortunate. (Insert something clever here)

It is really sad indeed...
actually, I'm a bit worried about how Janet's handling the news Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but they were the closest out of the whole bunch right? I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

its just taken a horrible twist too....
the doctor that apparently lived at Michaels house and administered his daily 'shot' and morphine-has dissappeared.....his BMW was towed from MJ's property last night sometime, the cops are allegedly searching for him. Jackson family are supposed to be saying it may have been a amorphine overdose.....man that is so sad. Natural causes is bad enough but if this is true-what a waste.....awful [Edited 6/26/09 7:16am]

I wish I had witnessed the days when Michael Jackson was respected by the public. I was born too late to see that.
When I discovered his music I was thrilled. He was the first artist I really loved. The first album I ever bought was "Bad". It's still one of my favorite albums. Even though I am not a passionate fan anymore, I have never stopped admiring him and I never will. His songs will always have a special place in my heart. His music will live forever ![]()
