this is so surreal, watching CNN for about 3 hours now...
...i was talking to my sister about it, and we all grew up on MJ - and we never thought this would happen..
obviously, death is death and when it's your time it is...
...but i never thought that i, or any of my siblings would outlive him
he was literally bigger than life.
fuck all controversy, this man accomplished more than many can even fathom dreaming of...
...absolute shock.
...the little artist that could...
[...i think i can, i think i can, i think i can...]

Personally, I lost any respect for MJ when the child molestation charges came about.

Professionaly, I admire MJ's talent as a singer, showman, and superstar.

I was en route home when the radio announcer confirmed that the Times had announced his passing. I actually choked up.

It's almost surreal. Unbelievable.

pray May he find the peace in passing that eluded him in life.

I never was much of a MJ fan, but Off The Wall has always been one of my fave albums from any artist...and I grew up on the J5 and lil' Mike...it is a terribly sad day for music fans...hopefully, after how things kinda went for him with the charges and the weirdness, he can and will find peace...

...also hoping that the vultures out there just let him be...there's no need for a bombshell MJ expose to discredit the man in death when they couldn't do it in life...

RIP MJ!

Never been a big fan (outside of a handful of songs). The closest I've ever even come to owning an MJ record was USA for Africa, yet it feels so surreal that he is no longer living. I think it is a testament to how huge a star he was that even non-fans can feel in some way affected by his passing.
Whatever side of the fence you stand on on his infamy (I myself have always been a fairly harsh critic of his behavior), there's just no denying that this is a man who changed the face of music, videos, dance, performance and fame.
He was clearly a troubled soul, yet managed to also give the world a lot of joy and I hope he is finally at peace.

I am actually crying. I have never met Michael, but I heard his voice most of my life. The sound of his voice made me get deeper in touch with my emotions. He made me smile when I was just 5, and he helped me to beam with pride when my 7 year old sang his song. My whole life, the sound of his voice has always been there. He helped to blurr the racial boundaries in music and opened up the door for artists to cross over. He reached the world.....and his sound brought joy to my life. What a huge loss.....what an insurmountable loss.....

I was saddened by this news. Always respected MJ and he was my favorite artist up until Prince took over. MJ's life has been really rough the last 10years or so and a man can only take so much. He left a huge impact on the music world and world in general. He is a true ICON and LEGEND and not many artists reach that level. RIP Mr.Jackson.

I think the only reason I didn't admit to liking Thriller that much was because it was during the Prince vrs. MJ battles and I was definitely on the dirty mind side..... smile

It is really tripping me out that his passing is bothering me as much as it is...

In tears, I've gotten more phone calls today ever in my life.
It's soo surreal, Michael Jackson, passed away? SERIOUSLY?!
Man, I love him! He is in peace, it's sad his life was like that..
I know his children helped him through, I feel for them!
YES! I SAID IT!
[You know how long I been on ya? Since Prince was on Apollonia.]
R.I.P Michael! Sad, the only time he was in peace, was when he wasn't alive.

I am really shocked and sad by the news of his death right now. I really liked MJ. I really liked his persona and music. It actually hurts. Childhood memories. This pain is real. I feel for him. He did some things and had his problems But in the end the music remains. The emotion stays and on forever.

The end of an era. As some say John lennon's passing was the end of an era. The 1960's

I feel this is an end of an era late 70s and 1980's. Youth is gone. We have grown. He has fell silent. Remember of dreams, summertime and something else. I will mourn this loss for a while.

Still can't believe it. Upset that it took so long for CNN and others to confirm it.

Was there ever a death that took that long to confirm after it started surfacing someone died?
