half of the book is the POV of the scientist, the other half is the POV of the "creation"

GREAT satire.

Never actually have, but it's on my list of things to read soon, along with a ton of other books. I've added a load of the ones I saw on this thread to said list, as well. lol

nod that was my plan as well

Ooh, I love this thread. woot!

I have to say I don't read nearly enough books that are actually relevant. lol Thus, my list for now is brief.

The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
Dracula - Bram Stoker - I am serious.
The Stand - Stephen King - Still serious.
Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

"Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" I forgot about this one. This one along with "Autobiography of Malcolm X" really got to me.

How could I forget that one? eek I've read it so many times since I first read it at 10. I really can't believe I forgot to list that. disbelief

Others that have changed my life or viewpoint (I'm counting any viewpoint here):

The Green Mile - Stephen King
The Man of the Crowd - Edgar Allan Poe - It's just a short story and not a full book, and definitely a weird choice, but yeah.
Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck
The Ultimate Jack the Ripper Sourcebook - Weird choice, but when I first read it, it spawned an obsession that I haven't been able to get rid of. neutral

Ivan Turgenev Fathers and Sons is worth reading

and you should read Tolstoy Anna Karenina (that girl was hot razz )

Id recommend reading some of the new Russians writers as well, such as Victor Pelevin (Виктор Пелевин) , an amazing writer who makes my brain melt out of my ears
