I read somewhere recently that America is not the place to buy cheese. Why is this then?

My life would be empty if it weren't for feta in salads, brie with cranberry and pastrami in sandwiches, stilton with a good glass (bottle) of port, fresh parmesan over penne and pesto or, the old reliable, strong English cheddar with sliced pickled onions and Walkers crisps between some freshly cut white bread. Yummy.

I hear that you can buy spray cheese in the States. I'm sorry but if that's true then you almost deserve to be hated as a nation

Favourite cheeses then people? I know we have quite a few Europeans on here so you guys must surely have some great recommendations?

America isn't the place to buy any food. Our standards have plummeted to sickening lows. We as a nation stopped caring about the quality of our food a long time ago. Or maybe it's been so long since we've eaten real food we've forgotten what it tastes like. We'd rather buy cheap, nutritionally deficient, genetically modified, growth hormone injected, pesticide sprayed, processed food. That's why we're all fat, sick, and/or heavily medicated. If you care anything about your health you'll buy organic. But I love a good spray blue cheese.

For sure, there are all kinds of crap cheese here. And we love to artificially color things orange. ( )
But you can find the good stuff as well.

I’m not a fan of cheese as it normally comes on or in most American meals and think most places use FAR too much, but I absolutely adore it if it’s a good cheese and used in the right quantities. I love Brie on a sandwich of veggie bacon, apples and apricot preserves. Or honeyed goat cheese on a fancy cracker. Or a smoky gorgonzola in a nice salad.

I like to eat cheese, but I can't stand Mozzarella .

I love love love cheese but dont allow myself it , too fattening

I'll say it and be taken to task, but sometimes there's nothing better than a good old Velvetta cheese sandwich.

smoked cheese is yummy, especially Applewood although its artificially flavoured and not tradionally smoked, it still tastes good. Colliers is another of my favourites which Tesco sells, I love cheese.

Whenever I go to a dinner party, I love to bring a nice cheese plate.

Nothing fancy for me. Cheddar or colby jack will do me just fine although I do like swiss cheese on my ham sandwich every now and again. Most cheeses leave me feeling phlegmy with a bad aftertaste.

A good cheddar (crumbly and strong) works really well with the following;

Thick, unsliced bread, toasted,
scrambled egg on top,
crispy, smoked back bacon on top of that,
grilled sliced tomatoes (or crushed cherry toms) on top of that (see where I'm going?),
pan-cooked mushrooms (wild or not) in proper English butter,
thick slice of cheddar covering the lot.

Toast it till it bubbles and browns and then bang on some Worcester sauce. Lovely!

If you're gonna go to Heaven early you may aswell do it with a smile on your face and a big full belly
