most of these bags posted are not really expensive when you consider how long they will last. If you get a quality bag that matches anything then ur set. I'm not a millionaire but I aint cheap neither. queen biggrin

I don't pay for designer bags BECAUSE of the brand name. I buy designer bags and shoes because I like the design aesthetic and level of quality of specific designers. If that's not your thing fine, but to just assume that the ONLY reason someone would buy a designer bag is because of the name or to impress somebody is kinda silly. Besides, aside from my Gucci bags, my most expensive bags don't even have a logo on them so no one would even know what kind of bag it is unless they got all up on the hardware to see who the designer is. Different strokes . . . shrug

In some ways I'm slightly more shallow than you here, but I agree that when I buy for brand, it's almost never to show off. I despise visible logos (except for maybe Le coq sportif's smile) and items that give themselves away as from a certain designer. I have to admit, though, that sometimes I personally get off on knowing something is of a certain brand. If, for example, I see leather duffle bags -- identical design, quality, etc. -- from, say, Banana Republic and some Walmart house brand, I'd buy the former, because I've generally come to love that brand. I guess in that way I'm a label whore. boxed But I don't feel the need to announce it to the world.

lol I hear ya. I'm a proud label whore too in that after years of buying things from certain designers they get my repeat business because I know I can depend on a certain level of style and quality from them. So why shop around? This is no different than going to the same restauarant, using the same insurance company, or putting a certain brand of tires on your car. After awhile, you know what you're working with and if you have sense you repay good/consistent products and service with repeat business.

Besides all of the cheap bags are always a knock off of a better made, higher quality bag, so why not get the better bag if that's what you want and can afford it? Regardless, I know that when I wanna be, I'm fly to death with or without a bag, in Jimmy Choos or barefoot and I don't need anyone else to validate that for me. thumbs up!

I wouldn't, only if I was a millionaire and had nothing else to spend my money on! You can buy GREAT bags in the high street, and who's to know if they cost thousands or not, it's about style not price ... no one can buy style... wink

highfive

biggrin wink

I just can't see myself dropping over 50 for a bag. But then again, I have a frugal dad who pretty much inspired me to splurge every now and then and look for a bag that appears expensive but hardly shakes my checkbook. disbelief I just can't go over 100.

Now...if I am gifted a designer bag, of course I'll rock that bad boy. I have one very nice vintage looking Louis Vuitton bag that I got a while ago for X-mas. That's my baby. biggrin

I don't think I've ever spent more than $20 bucks on a purse and that was a splurge. I guess if I had the money I would buy a different color purse to match every outfit. cool

the most i would pay for a bag would be around 70 euro.

i don't get the designer bag thing. i like to use diff bags so if i paid a lot for one i would prob get bored with it too quickly to justify the price tag.

there is a designer bag that is really big at the moment where i live and the amount of women that i have seen with it would put me off getting one.
