HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY FOR A DESIGNER HANDBAG?

I love designer bags but um, excessive aint the word. Over priced is an understatement. lol

The diamond studded bag is just hideous ostentation for the sake of it

I have a Mulberry bag which I guess was around £450

The most I’ve ever paid for a bag is $70, and that’s pretty steep for me. Most hover around the $20-40 range.
Even if I were a millionaire, I can’t see spending very much on bags. But we all have our things we like to spend money on. shrug

I'm happy to pay under $200 but I don't really do designer anyway. The most I ever paid was close to $400 for a Donna Karan many years ago, I'll never do that shit again. I'd grown out of the bag in a year omfg I'll stick w/ the cheaper shit, thank you lol

Style is not a question of money. I love my handbags, but I refuse to pay a lot of money for them. They always have to perfectly match my outfits though giggle.

but aren't we paying for quality? surely a 500 dollar handbag will last a lot longer than a 50 dollar one. and be prettier too no?

Me too. I was so excited to find a black and white polka dot bag to match my black & white polka dot wedge shoes. I feel so lovesexy when I rock those.

Prettier? NO, there's some shitty looking bags out there for a grip! lol Hopefully the quality is superior, but I wouldn't know...

IMO they are not prettier, but of course that's a matter of taste. Many designer handbags are just plain ugly IMO, sure some are beautiful, but so are cheap ones. And I don't care about quality as I have so many different handbags that I were them on an average no more than 5 or 10 times a year, so quality isn't important to me.

lol Most people paying $500 for a bag are paying for one thing and one thing alone, the symbol, IMO. It has very little to do with quality. If you drop both in water, they'll both be ruined just the same.

THIS IS $50

THIS IS $600

I LIKE THIS BETTER falloff

I've tried the cheap bags and it doesn't make sense to me to buy 10 of them at 50 bucks a pop when I can just have 2 each at 250 bucks and they go with everything and last longer. the cheap bags fade in color, the zippers break, they can't hold much, don't have enough pockets, the straps wear down. Nothing worse than cheap bags and cheap shoes. confused

How about they're both hideous b/c they're fucking purple! falloff Seriously though, I wouldn't pay for either. The tassle shits on the $250 bag are tragic...

I've never been dissatisfied with how many pockets or how much my purses hold. Less expensive purses come in bigger sizes too. What does that have to do with how much money you spend? As for the color fading and straps wearing down, I can't really speak on that because I change my purses out often so they don't have a chance to show wear and tear.

You get what you pay for is my point. Quality cost more and the result is no fading of color, no fucked up zippers, no tearing of shoulder straps (at least not for some years) and more inside organizers (my fav). I hate dump purses where you just throw stuff in then get aggravated when you can't find it later cuz its somewhere at the bottom of the pit.

You can even turn in some designer bags for a newer model much like upgrading your cell phone. Coach did this and I think Balenciaga does it too. try that with Target or Kmart. falloff

I think it CAN be a matter of “you get what you pay for” but in general the trade-off doesn’t cover the expense. If my cheap-ish purse wears out I’m not out of much money and I can get another one without breaking the bank. And I can buy far MORE purses to change in and out, like others have said. I currently have a huge storage tote full of them.

For myself, there are other things I’d rather spend my money on.

lol

I'll definitely spend more on shoes than purses. But I don't think I've ever spent more than $175 on a pair and the vast majority of my collection cost under $75-100.

I'm a frugal girl. I live on one income. What can I say?
