Will Smith strikes me as soooo phony. It's hard to take things he says without a big ol' grain of salt to go with it. I remember when he was on Oprah promoting "Happyness," and he just seemed so fake, kind of like, 'what can I say now to make these folks think I'm funny? what can I say now to make these folks think I really love my wife,' etc. It just seemed so staged and rehearsed. I'ma get shit for this, but he's about three rungs behind Tom Cruise on the creep ladder.

I don't get that vibe at all. Will makes me crack up often. I really don't get all the Will Smith hate.
Me either. I looooove Will Smith.

Seriously, she needs to move on. Her removal from the show may not have been done in the best way or under the best terms but what's the point of bringing it up again? If this is the 'explosive excerpt' then I doubt she has a bestseller on her hands. And what's up with the title? Perfection is Not A Sitcom Mom? Awkward. She's not exactly the person I think of when I think of great sitcom moms.

She brought a lot of strength and grace to her role on the show. Is apparently a Julliard-trained actress.

Last fall, she did an interview with Essence magazine where she admitted to have written a book (that was then titled "Murder of a Sitcom Mom") but said that she wouldn't be publishing it because she had found healing over the firing and all that followed it.

shrug Almost sounds like something happened between October and whenever she decided to publish.

Sounds like her decision to not publish came when somoene told her she STILL might be able to cash in on Will success..he must have a blockbuster movie coming out

I really dig Will.....but he has taken on a certain Tiger like quality in the last few years that really bugs me.

On the real - and I've told Al this as well - without Carlton, the show doesn't last as long as it did. His emergence as a sidekick really boosted the show's funny level. Also, Al got that dance from Eddie Murphy's Delirious stand up routine.

Oh definitely agree with that too. The character Carlton is great, the only downside about it is that he played the role so well people can't see him as anyone else anymore. When he was doing a lot prior to Fresh prince. What's he doing these days?

Oh for fuck sake she needs to give it up on that excuse. There are a lot of black actresses who are very successful. IMHO she missed her nap.

But Black actresses have it the hardest, so ANY setback could prove disastrous for a Black actress' career.

Your missing my point. This happened over 16 years ago.....even I can rattle off a actress who was successful( Nell Carter for one). Sounds like she playing a race card with the can't keep a sista down bs. O wait....Will was black too and so was the others on that show. You don't see them blaming Will after the show ended for their careers failing do u ? No. Just her. She needs to accept she is one of those failed actresses.

I can understand if she was releasing the book then when it happened but NOW come on stop with excuses already.

No, I got your point, but the real point is, it's tough for Black actresses to just "shake it off" and find comparable work, especially after being blacklisted by a big time star. And I have no idea where you got this "race card" thing from? That's just a phrase in jest at times that Blacks use, regardless of who the perpetrator is. Also, the other actors' didn't have their gig abruplty ended, so of course there's no need for them to "blame" anyone because they were there for the long run of the series.

You have ur opinion I have mine. I still think the same as I said before and she missed 16years of naps can we give the baby a bottle already for Vivian.

And it depends if she KNEW she was going to on a show that the person was also a big star too if so she KNEW she was going to be upstaged or hacked if she did something wrong.

You also don't see the other guest stars slamming him either in a book for something that happened over 16 years ago (he didn't want other stars outshining him either from what another post said).

Of course I have my opinion, that's why I'm posting, but my opinion also has the advantage of familiarity from working in the entertainment field.

And I'm PRETTY sure neither will nor her thought will was gonna blow up as big as he did to where there would be a clash.

And why would the other guests slam him when they weren't kicked off the show?
