Oh well I loved the show and it made me laugh, although I didn't like it when they replaced Janet Hubert, over here I really didn't know as to why she was replaced.

highfive She was the only true Aunt Viv. I stopped watching it after her.

BTW, she still looks great if that's a recent pic. But, ummm, nobody cares about this shit. comfort
[Edited 6/18/09 13:30pm]

They wanted to go with a more subservient "Aunt Viv" because SISTA Aunt Viv was way too "sistafied" for them. On the show, Daphne was so damn weak as a woman. It was sad to see them make Black women look weak. What the fuck did she do for a living? The OG Viv was a professor and all the new Viv did was sit around and look worried every damn episode. Weak shit.

Well, it's easy for some people to tell her to just move on or that she's bitter, but this pretty much ruined her career. She was somewhat blacklisted after this feud with Will, so I don't blame her for trying to get her side out and cop some ducketts in the process.

Daphne was wringing her damn hands anytime I saw her. Maybe that's what it was but Janet had that fiyah but was still classy. She reminded me of Claire Huxtable but more likely to cuss your ass out. lol

I haven't met a single fan of this show who preferred the second Aunt Viv.

I'd be lying if I said I stopped watching after she was replaced though. One of my favorite TV shows ever!

Exactly. It's like they just ripped Viv 2.0's soul out. She got on my damn nerve.

Will Smith strikes me as soooo phony. It's hard to take things he says without a big ol' grain of salt to go with it. I remember when he was on Oprah promoting "Happyness," and he just seemed so fake, kind of like, 'what can I say now to make these folks think I'm funny? what can I say now to make these folks think I really love my wife,' etc. It just seemed so staged and rehearsed. I'ma get shit for this, but he's about three rungs behind Tom Cruise on the creep ladder.

One of the funniest sitcoms ever, and she was no joke as Aunt Viv. I, like others here, was disappointed when they replaced her (and didn't look anything like her).

Anywho... I never heard about this stuff.

I never really cared for Will Smith other than Hancock, I am Legend, and 7 Pounds. Even as a kid, except for "Summertime" and "Getting Jiggy with it", I always thought his songs were whack especially the ones he did in the 80s. rolleyes

Seriously, I agree with the others here she needs to move on, its been 16 years.

Will was young and just starting out in the business AND the show was based around WILLS CHARACTER not HER! I remember watching this show as a child. It was mainly around the character Will portrayed anyway NOT the Aunt Viv character! AND it was HIS SONG "Parents Just Dont Understand" that was used at the beginning as well THAT should of told her SOMETHING!

He dont strike me a phony, he has his funny- serious moments as any other actor does. I have watched many of his movies, I like some I dont like some. Its a 50/50 situation.

Seriously I wont be buying or reading this book if her intentions are to bash Will cause of HER bitterness. She needs to let go and move on and GROW UP!

On the real - and I've told Al this as well - without Carlton, the show doesn't last as long as it did. His emergence as a sidekick really boosted the show's funny level. Also, Al got that dance from Eddie Murphy's Delirious stand up routine.
