Diners dash, crash into IHOP in Detroit Here's proof tonight--- crooks do return to the scene of the crime. Four young ladies decided to skip on their meal after they ate at a Detroit restaurant. My TV 20's Dave Leval tells us why this became the most expensive meal they ever ate. Multimedia Watch The Video "This takes the pancake." That's one way to describe the new drive thru at the International House of Pancakes on Detroit's Jefferson Avenue. Except, it's not what managers or employees planned. The driver of a car pancaked the wall shortly after she and three friends ate there. Scott Baker/Spokesman, IHOP Restaurants "We had a table of young people that wanted to leave without paying their bill." Detroit Police tell the four took off out of the parking lot in their car onto Jefferson. There was too much traffic, the driver lost control and ran into the restaurant. Talk about irony, the driver slammed her car into the very table where she and her friends sat just moments earlier. That's not all. Baker: "The change purse that was connected to her keys had $200 in it, or had enough to cover the bill." Now, the young driver will have to come up with more money to pay for a new car. Meanwhile, restaurant owners are "waffling" over whether to keep their new drive thru window. In Detroit, Dave Leval, My TV 20 News at 10. We're told the crash caused nearly 20 thousand dollars in damage. The driver faces several charges... including reckless driving. http://www.tv20detroit.co...56637.html BTW, I heard on the news that their tab was only $32.00 | |
