CalhounSq said: PanthaGirl said: Wow surprised to hear about Krispy Kremes apparently they are doing very well in Australia. I remember in 2006 when the first store opened in Melbourne the queue wait in store was about 3 hours and the 24 hour drive thru queue was a 2 hour wait for doughnuts.
Yea, but most (?) people are gonna hit that point when they realize they're going through a lot of hoopla over a damn donut & they'll look @ their waistlines & they'll wander away. If that's what's happened in America already, that's a good thing! True that mate.

I guess the Krispy Kreme craze is over, then. When I was in high school, we had to do a Senior fundraiser for the company and those things sold like hotcakes. They're really not THAT good, though. If you leave them for too long the glaze starts to taste bland. I'm a Dunkin' Donuts gal anyway.
Haven't been to a sbarro in ages. Sometimes I'll have it on the rare occasion I go to the mall--which is hardly ever. Capt. D's is a place I only eat at when I'm in this small town in TN called Paris. Nevertheless, sucks to be in that number of places that could go belly up. No one needs to be losing their jobs right now.

I love that scene in Crush Groove when the Fat Boys sing "ALL YOU CAN EAT" while they raid an Sbarro... which is serving a lot more than pizza and salad in that scene, I might add.

I knew Krispy Creme was in trouble but somehow I'm still shocked .I swear last year there used to be a 2 hour wait just to get in and place an dorder near my place in Tokyo (Shinjuku)...with security guards to control the crowds. I swear it looked like people were standing in line daily for an election i wonder how long before they fold...
...and for sinnin', heathen, nostalgic reasons, lawd knows I will miss Sbarro. That place on Washington Avenue was like the companion to Denny's for me in the early 90's,and it fueled many a heady night before my wild ass cohorts and I used to rips and run the streets of Sobe...that garlicky parmesean with the red pepper flakes

I, too, will miss Sbarro. I've many a memory of it, especially from my early 20s.
In my efforts to help the local and global economy, I bought six Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I'm a giver.

Yeah,I never knew what the Krispy Kreme hype was all about. The donuts are too sweet and sugary. Each donut must have 1000 calories, lol.Dunkin' Donuts is superior in every way. Haven't been to a sbarro in ages. Sometimes I'll have it on the rare occasion I go to the mall--which is hardly ever. Capt. I went to Sbarro a few months ago.We have it in our local malls. It's good, but I won't really miss it if it shuts down.

I stopped going to Sbarro's when I found a screw in my pizza. Luckily I didn't chip a tooth. Oh wait, I did go once more many many years later and had some spaghetti that exited my body almost as quickly as it entered. Not cool. Good riddance.
Krispy Kreme... processed sugar in the shape of a circle. Talk about a sugar rush. Still can't believe how quickly their vanishing around town. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

*pullin out the first aid kit* y'all are a mess...lol.
I know places like Chipotle will never have to worry about goin' down. The one in my neighborhood is always packed. Apparently the giant burrito things are the staple diet of the pot head gamers in the area.

Should Pizza Hut be added to this list? It looks like its parent company is looking to change the name of the restaurant.
http://articles.moneycent...?GT1=33009 Pizza Hut to change its name? The iconic restaurant chain is reportedly set to slice pizza from its name in a bid to spice up its image. By Catherine Holahan MSN Money Blame recession cuts. Pizza Hut reportedly is slicing the "pizza" from its name. The fast food chain will now be known simply as "The Hut." The chain, which has recently expanded its menu beyond pizza to include pasta, could not immediately be reached for comment Friday. Media and advertising trade publication MediaWeek characterized the name change as an attempt to transform its stores into hip hangouts. There are more than 10,000 Pizza Huts worldwide. The new "hut" stores will be more than a place to simply pick up some take-out, according to MediaWeek. They will include televisions that broadcast CBS programs such as "Wheel of Fortune" and "Entertainment Tonight." The company has tried to become more hip and youth-friendly in recent months. In April, it introduced the Pizza Hut "Twintern," an employee who uses the online service Twitter to update customers about store events and pop culture news.

That name change won't do JACK SHI-ITE for them. Their pizza is so icky and bland. I can't handle it anymore but it's the only local delivery spot when I'm at my aunt's. Thank GOD for Italian Fiesta here in Chicago.
