So my son is going to his very first real concert in August. He's super, super excited but I am terrified for his little ears. Can someone recommend headphones or ear plugs that will protect his ears (comfortably) but still allow him to enjoy the show?

I'm clueless with this kind of thing, and I really want to make sure he'll be ok. He's turning 4 next month. Do they make ear protection for kids?

cotton is all he really needs, it will still allow the sound waves to reach but not the high decibels.

there are soft foamy type ear plugs that are easy to use...you roll them between your palms (like making a clay rope) and put the into the ear, and they expand...they're really comfortable, and still let the music in..


what concert....? Prince?

Any old earplugs will work really. I've been to some small clubs that will give you a pair for free from behind the bar (but I doubt that he's going to a venue with a bar )

Yeah, any really. You can buy decent ones from camping/outdoor pursuits stores. They aren't expensive at all.

cheap plugs are fine. It makes no difference in quality--they all do the job.
Even cotton works, but you need to be careful then.


And yeah--shows now are so damned loud, they damage your hearing. If it's Mylie Cyrus he wants to go see, you can try sealing his eardrumbs in lead.

You need something like this, but in blue.

I'd personally recommend the soft orange (or whatever) squeezable plugs they have anywhere for a couple bucks.

maybe a couple wads of cotton in case he doesn't like the orange ones.

hard plastic ones - ouch!

earphones - ache!
